I'm a middle aged guy who recently bought a tuned 2004 Blobeye WRX and I did buy it for some of the reasons that you mentioned. Firstly it was the simplicity of the interior and that it had none of the high tech features of later model cars, it was built primarily for raw performance and it sounds awesome. Secondly was the fact that we are all being forced into EVs over the next decade and as you said, this is the antithesis of an EV. Thirdly was it's aggressive and anti-social look which says F@ck you to those who would have us all driving bland conservative and economical cars, and Fourthly this thing is a hell of a lot of fun to drive, especially on a winding mountain road, and it will smoke the arse of cars that are worth 5 times as much.

@@kacper.6537 so that’s somewhere between £15k-£19k. The very cheapest STI’s in the UK start around £10k but to get an av. condition STI they are between £12k-£16k. And if you relate that to the av. annual salary in the UK of c.£40k, so probably around 3-4 months (assuming no tax!)

Prices across the whole market have suffered through the second half of the year and things will likely not improve significantly through 2024. But you have a hugely desirable car, a car that will never be made again and in time will become very sought after I have no doubt. But many decisions that we take can be driven by other factors in our lives (to release equity for other things) but if you aren’t under pressure to release money from the car and still enjoy it then I’d say hold tight. Medium to long term these cars will only go one way in value ⬆️

I paid a few £k less than £16k (96k miles) but it was last summer and prices have continued to strengthen. I specifically wanted a UK Spec (for the Subaru rumble sound which JDMs don’t have!) but also needed it to be a wide track, standard (or close to std!) with the Prodrive pack (PPP). @@hitensolanki4786 thanks for the positive feedback. Maintenance is key with the STIs. The 2.0 engine and 6 spd MT are strong units so long as all preventive maintenance has been done.
