Hello! 😃I feel that this book could be a pastiche, I got the impression that it's built like a puzzle with ideas from other stories (for example I had very strong Red Rising vibes listening the review). Nonetheless, it could be interesting, maybe I'll give it a try. What sparked my interest was the main idea of the book, the will of the people which is harvested by others. It reminded me of one of my favorite books, Beyond Redemption by Michael R. Fletcher. The world there is shaped by people's beliefs and the magic system is given by those with mental disorders (because they believe the most in their delusions). I think you'll love it also (and the rest of the Manifest Delusions series) and I highly recommend it to you❤.

Thank you for the recommendation, fletcher has been on my list to try for a good while and so I definitely have bumped him up on your recommendation. It sounds fascinating. I would say I didn’t get strong RR vibes from TWotM when reading, but I could see some similarities maybe. I think there’s ideas from various things but the author weaves them in to this well :)

I understood the Sappers to be machines, not creatures. They are talked about as semi-mysterious technology from pre-Cataclysm.

Yeah I think you could definitely see it that way too, I felt they were creature-like and the mysterious nature of them means it’s a little vague. Really interesting concept either way! Looking forward to finding out more about them
