Another awesome quick tip lesson. So helpful to learn the use of "grips" to organize portions of the scales into comfortable and readily accessible fingerings for improvisation. As always, delivered with Jonny's wonderful enthusiasm and energy. My coffee went cold as I was having so much fun trying these out.

This is definitely lovely video for me. I found all of scales useful and nice, and funny thing that scale #5 I found intutively by myself playing a chord base Am-G-F-E in 16 takts and doing improvisation on this scales which is called Major Bebop on music science language. Great!

Thanks Jonny, I’m new to your YT. This video helps me in so many ways…, especially the grips, etc. Then, my brain took off…. What do you do on any minor chord, and what about how the chord functions (dominant) in a song? I’m not thinking about other types of chords right now. Most of the songs I play are Christian Contemporary with only 3 to 4 basic major and minor chords only.

For the 1st grip. Just think of it as playing inversions for the Maj9 chord of the root chord.

I'm an intermediate player, and do a lot of improv....but not an expert...just fairly good. But I got lost on this lesson despite playing it over and over. I just don't get the GRIPS thing. It seems easier to play the scales.
