Psychological flexibility refers to your ability to adapt to changing circumstances and be able to cope with any distress those circumstances create. Another way of saying it is the ability to pursue your goals even in the face of adversity.
There’s no one right way to address this. For this video I’m going to focus on how it’s defined using the radically open DBT approach.
Using that framework, here are 5 signs of cognitive inflexibility.
Inhibited Emotional Expression
Being Hyper-Vigilant and Overly-Cautious
Rigid and Rule-Governed Behavior
