I detoxed my 3 year old from screen time. If has been two weeks! I spend more time wirh her, play with her, go out more. Her vocabulary, her communcation has changed, we are still working on teaching her to use "I want, I like, yes, more.." simple phrases that younger kids use. Instead of screen, she has found a love for books. We read books together, talk about the story, the pictures. She still has some echolalia but I am hoping that it will fade with time. TV is off all day long, phones are away, she has forgotten about the tv and no longer requests it. Loved this explanation, it explained a lot of what happened to my little girl.

i am so relieved i found this video. my daughter is 6 years old and i have noticed so many red flags but had no idea what it was. autism is diffnt then what shes displaying and symtoms are begining to worsen as she is getting older. screen time is an issue i have not been good at regulating and it has become an every day all day obsession. she melts down for almost no reason and has repetative words and noises even body movements that started to happen around 4. her symtoms lesson when the screen is not around and shes involved in something she wants to do but it doesnt take long to start asking for it after. her sleep is also begining to lsuffer and wakes me up 2 ton4 times a night to restart hr movies from tv in room im so happy i have hope now but also i am upset with myself it is me i did this. thank you i know what it is and i can reverse it im thrilled.

@@AMELI_CHAMELI Virtual autism is not a disease. It is a condition caused by ENVIRONMENT. Virtual autism happens when children are more focused on phones than people. Doctors don't know about this condition because they are focused on the child and not the environment. A Child cannot learn how to speak and interact socially when they are not connected and listening to parents, peers, and friendly adults for more than 2 hours every day. There are many things you can do to reconnect with your child. Medication is NOT indicated for any child with speech delay. Thank you for this amazing video! My son just turned 19 months old ( bilingual family). I can relate to these points but what actually triggers me is that he says one word repeatidely, on his own and with joy. Whenever he sees a "marbel " He says it loud and responds repeats this Word after me without even having a marble around! That's not the case for other words. That is deeply puzzling 😢 cant figure out this. Stopped screens hoping to hear him say all the words inside!❤

Just my 2 cents, bilingual children often take longer to learn how to talk and your son is still very young. My now 3 year old was also driving me crazy with his favorite sound or word of the week (or month). He didn't start putting two words together until he was 2 but would constantly mumble or say or shout his favorite word that he picked up somewhere. He went from lampampa (lamp) to waterwall (waterfall) to kerosene to mozzarella. He'd wake up in the middle of the night and shout mozzarella mozzarella! while jumping up and down (he might have ADHD but that's a different story...). And then within a few months his speech just exploded. He sings songs, makes up stories and even rhymes words in a way that makes sense. Turns out he has a real knack and a love for language and just loves to talk, that's why he was saying his favorite words over and over when he couldn't string sentences together yet. So, don't worry too much, he's still a baby and mastering two languages at the same time isn't easy.

The symptoms you are worried about are caused when children choose to learn from videos and detach from humans. Parents who have given children devices to learn from must facilitate their child's reconnection with the humans in the world AND motivate them to choose a FUNctional learning experience. You should also check your child's ears, because these behaviors are also common with ENT issues.

But he doesn't talk , sometimes he doesn't respond when I call his name but he would come when I ask him to come closer . There are things small chores I ask him to do and he loves that he'll be happy and he'll come look at me straight in my face just to hear me say good boy. So I don't know where he falls or what's really wrong with him I haven't found the right answer yet . I get really confused sometimes

The resources are all on my website WavesofCommunication.com. My daughter was exposed to too much television and not enough face-to-face interaction at an early age (she fits the virtual autism profile you gave in this video). We realized at 18 months that it was a problem and removed the tv. She got a lot better, started talking, became much more engaged and interactive, improved eye contact, joint attention etc. However, she's now 33 months old and as her speech has progressed, she's shown other markers for autism such as echolalia/scripting, unusual prosody of speech, and difficulty with the use of speech. I'm wondering if these differences in language can still be explained by virtual autism even though we removed the tv 15 months ago? Can the effects of virtual autism linger this long or is it more likely she has ASD?

Daddy mama up down hop . Can say point touch nose. Says hi and bye. If he sees a real duck says duck , dog a dog and cat he says mew. Not very clearly. Doesn’t speak clearly. Okay but wouldn't this still put them on the spectrum which to a lot of institutions is the same thing? Almost!
@WavesofCommunication
Жыл бұрын
The risk of misdiagnosis increases when professionals base their recommendations for therapy such as ABA on an incorrect root cause for the symptoms you see. The "spectrum" assumes a child has neurological autism without considering the child's environment and experience during key language learning areas. If a child has had excessive screen time and reduced connection with adult humans speaking during key developmental ages, Then it is inappropriate to label the child on the spectrum and assume that they need ABA training. With the VA label, play-based, connected, inclusive instruction is enough to help them catch up.

Virtual Autism is not a disease so there is no "cure". The symptoms are caused when children choose to learn from videos and detach from humans.
