Before I got into electric fans, I used to collect battery-powered mini fans, mainly because electric fans are bigger and pricier.
In 2010, I started getting into USB fans, which I plugged into my computer while gaming. I had everything from soft-bladed fans to oscillating ones with grilles. I was drawn to USB fans because they didn’t need battery replacements like my old battery-powered ones.
Then, in 2012, I went to Singapore with my family. I found a gift shop there that had all sorts of USB fans, including a special one from Soundtech that really caught my eye. It looked just like a mini version of a classic box fan, and the louver even moved by the wind!
This fan is 5” in size, has a single speed, uses a brushless DC motor, and features an adjustable louver. It’s pretty quiet, but the airflow isn’t super strong. A few years ago, I used it a lot on my computer desk, but now it’s back in its box for preservation.
