This webinar discusses the five stages of killing a bad idea within an organization by drawing parallels with the stages of grief. Alex has applied this approach to help organizations deal with bad ideas that need to be eliminated. The process involves going through each of the five stages to bury unworthy concepts once and for all.
Highlights
🔄 In 1969, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross introduced the concept of five grief stages, commonly called DABDA. The stages are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
🛠️ To overcome denial, getting key stakeholders involved and seeking input from employees to address their concerns is important.
🗣️ Addressing anger involves allowing people to express their concerns and seeking feedback to calm emotions.
🤝 The bargaining stage involves compromising on certain aspects while maintaining a clear understanding of what is non-negotiable.
🌈 Moving past depression requires providing direction, clarity, and highly supportive behavior to help employees transition into acceptance of the new idea.
