I saw this movie when I was 14. Loved it then, love it now. Honk is a great band. Still surfing hard at 65. Forever stoked.

I was a GROM who went to Carlsbad High School to see this film debut in So Cal for the first time an I still remember the hoots over the waves and girls. This song became the theme for countless surfers. I'm so glad I spent my entire LIFE in the water, despite the basil and squamous work which was a tiny price to pay for the joy that I had in the waves. Today, the vast majority of surfers in Huntington Beach are older than me still... but not by much! May the Lord bless you.

Perhaps the greatest surf film ever. At least in the 70's. Comparable with Bruce Brown's "Endless Summer." Saw Five Summer Stories at the Surf Theater in Huntington Beach and back when Main Street had a surf shop on every corner it seemed.. God, were we stoked! We all wanted to be causal like Gerry Lopez. Back then ever new surf flick was an event. . Simpler and cleaner and, yes, the women were beautiful without having tattoos. . I doubt we will ever see times like this again.

Outstanding. Learned to surf at Dana Point before it was ruined. My parents took me there every weekend. A long way from Pomona. Went to south pacific in the 70's and scared me but scored big time. Honk and Pacific Vibrations are allways in my head. 63yrs old don't surf much anymore. Hazard Cyn. is not a secret spot any more. Hold on to your memories and pass them on. Does anyone remember Chuck Dent and the old H.B. Crew?

I too, surfed DP B4 they screwed it up...Blood Reef and Doho just to the south. Chuck Dent was a staple of the beach... I'll never forget his 6 page ad in Surfer Mag, cost him a bundle... I remember he lived in them condos on the beach. He hated my partner (Robert Highsmith) for selling boards so cheap... $83 at Soul Surfboards... Bob had Plastic Fantastic, Surfcraft Hawaii, American, Ocean West. and there's got to be another...I"m 69.5... marooned back here in NE Florida... 55 miles from our no wave First Coast

This was the era of truly great surfers & surfing - working the wave as an artist. Side slips, vertical reentries, stylish roundhouse cutbacks & bottom turns & getting tubed .... those were the days my friends. Today it is slash & burn, getting air, acrobatics & no real sense of community. The evolution is really a shame.

It was a fun time!!!! Women were more generous and good natured, and no wierd hair, lip rings, tats, and for really,,,,no bad attitudes. In the water we had some issues, but there was still a wholesome: I hate you when you take off in front of me, But no way was there a: I hate your guts forever I will kill you the next time... Its really gone, the love of living, where it went who knows, but gone!!! Just way more giving then, friendship based living, not total warefare or survival
