The Renee Sweeney case actually has arrested and charged someone with her murder as of December 2018. The man, Robert Steven Wright, was arrested in North Bay at the Regional Health Centre where he was a lab technician. It may be a year or so until the actual trial though.

Apparently. The case happened in the early 1980s and we've heard of other cases where the police had problems of not being able to trace calls. So I assume it's true...or the police really didn't care. Thanks for watching!
@thanrose

Back before cell phones they did need time to process the trace, both contact with the phone people and locating the general area. The very first mobile phones I saw were in the mid-1980's. I don't know how the technology works, but now it's instantaneous. Details would depend on whether it's a burner phone and if the caller is driving or moving around.

Yes, it is true, even with today's mobile/cell phones & technology it isn't instant. Police can track the receiver closest to where the call was made, yet need the call to be ongoing to try & pinpoint an almost exact location.

Almost 6K subs already, yay! That Cynthia Anderson case (#4) is another one of my favorite Unsolved Mysteries segment. The fact her body was never found is highly disturbing, I believe whoever kidnapped and killed her committed other crimes in the area in the 70's to mid 80's but it could have been an isolated incident. Really complex case, glad you shared it with everyone.

Jonathan Turbide I love Unsolved Mysteries and apparently they released the series on DVD and some awesome people uploaded them on KZitem. The only thing is the audio is so low that even when you turn your volume all the way up, you can still barely hear it. Anyway I remember the case with Cynthia, but I thought there was an additional part of the story which I must be remembering incorrectly, because I don't know why, if true, they didn't include it. Do you remember something about her name being painted in REALLY big letters on the wall of a building across the parking lot, but directly facing her office? Plus the front of her office was glass, so when sitting at her desk, she was face to face with it? If I'm right, why not add this super creepy detail?!!! Also, do you remember the case of Gary Webb, a newspaper reporter that was working on a huge story exposing the CIA (I think) and therefore put his life in jeopardy? Anyway he went somewhere to meet a source, but told his family before he left that if something happened to him, it WASN'T an accident. Right afterward, they found his dead body in the bathtub of his motel room. They concluded he committed suicide by slitting his wrists, but it was a VERY suspicious death. (They even embalmed his body before notifying his family). I really hope you remember the additional detail from Cynthia's case and the case involving investigational reporter, Gary Webb. And I really, really would love for you to respond to me!

Hi Jenny! Excellent comment, and you have an excellent memory! I had forgotten about the graffiti on the wall. Indeed it was reported that an inscription like "“I love you Cindy, by GW” was written on that wall. In fact some say it was painted on two different occasions. It's a very creepy part of the mystery; some say it was left by the killer, others say it was unrelated (in fact a woman claimed that she was the Cindy from the message, that would make sense since only Cynthia's friends and family called her Cindy). Some even claim she did it herself to get attention. It's a very strange part of this story, thanks for reminding me about it. Journalist : I believe the case you are talking about is the murder of Danny Casolaro. He was working on a book that would have shed light on an organization he called "The Octopus", an organization having ties with all type of different elements of our society (from the government, to the criminal underworld, to politicians, to organized crime and so on). It's a very complex story, one of my favorites. No doubt he was murdered, whoever did it did a poor job at it (the poor suicide note, the note is religious yet Danny wasn't religious at all, military man showing up at his funerals, etc). I recommend you to look for "Danny Casolaro Octopus" here on youtube, a few podcasts were made about his death and the very complex story behind the organization. A very courageous woman also wrote a fantastic book about it, you can check it on Amazon ( The Last Circle, by author Cheri Seymour ). Truly one of the most fascinating story of our times, thanks for the great comment Jenny.

jenny misteqq You’re welcome Jenny! Thanks for bringing up this intriguing case! 👍 Corbett: Oh yes, that’s exactly the podcast I had in mind! I believe the 5 or 6 parts about the death of Danny are still available on KZitem, the host is such a professional and I love how he shares different interviews and news reports during his broadcasts. By far one of the finest podcast about conspiracy theories, current events and other mysteries. Glad you found it! I also recommend the Coast to Coast AM interview the author of the book about Danny/Octopus gave to investigative reporter George Knapp a few years ago. I don't think it's available on KZitem anymore but maybe a search for "Coast to Coast Cheri Seymour" will give you something. I highly recommend the book, it’s scary and incredibly compelling. Big thank you for this discussion and good luck with your research my friend! ✌

I think she may have faked her own disappearance. First, all these dreams about somebody abducting her is prior to it actually happening is, obviously, very unlikely. The book she was reading being open to a page about being abducted is totally improbable in the case of a real abduction. Also, the office being totally undisturbed. The abductor would have had to take her by surprise but then how did she get her book open to the page about abduction if she was surprised? Can't have it both ways. She faked it. She wants her family to think she's dead. She needed help to do this. Someone assisted her and they had obviously planned it out well. She screwed up leaving that book as a clue though.

On May 29 1967 a distant cousin of mine’s wife Lynn Bandringa, went missing from her home in Hesperia, California. They were married only seven weeks. She was home watching the family business, which was a trailer sales business and her husband and father in law were away on a delivery and she was painting a fence. She suddenly disappeared. All of her things were left behind and her dogs were running loose, which is something she would not do if she left anywhere. No one has seen or heard from her since.

It’s really hard to track someone when they call. .it’s nothing like the movies at all- where they say the person must stay on the line for 60 seconds, They have to be on the phone long enough for cops to trace them, plus I’m pretty sure at that time phone tracking like that was in its infancy and not perfected...the person would need to be on the phone for 10-20 minutes to track the call...now a days phone tracking is definitely much better- the cops can trace a landline phone within seconds same with a cell phone.....

The Laura Black case is a really good stalker case. Laura started her dream job in Silicon Valley as an engineer (I think). A fellow worker became obsessed with her and would follow her around, take photos, send her things, admit to having sexual fantasies about her, and many other creepy things. Laura would go to the head of the company daily to tell her about this guy, his name was Richard. She thought," maybe it's because of the way you smile at him". Laura was upset and left. People were telling her to bring it to court but she didn't want it to get super serious. Once the company found out he was threatening her they fired him. Richard told the people firing him that he was going to kill all of them and then himself. A few days later, he bought a bunch of guns and ammo and shot up the companies building. He shot Laura but she escaped and lived. He was drawn out when one of the officers called a phone in the building and said that he would buy Richard dinner if he came out. He came out and was arrested. He blamed it on Laura because she never even went on one date with him. Because of this case the first stalker case in California was passed.

That picture of the guy on the phone really unnerves me. And the one of the black figures with white eyes. I'm not easily scared but you managed to find two pictures that put the heebie-jeebies into me. Well played Criminally Listed.

You should do one on my Great Aunt Kimberly Ann Langwell. She disappeared from Beaumont, Tx in 1999 and still has not been found to this day. Honestly, we believe her ex boyfriend was heavily involved. Something was fishy about the whole situation.

It opens up possibilities like the society in Gattaca, but it will happen (the DNA at birth, not necessarily the Gattaca thing). Many people are now getting a DNA profile of their newborns and older kids for their own records.

Dorothy Scott: I've always thought that the killer...(or at least the caller) probably knew Dorothy's father. Bcuz the guy wouldn't even TALK to her father...as you know. Well...someone was stalking her and knew her every move...he had no problem harassing the family for 4 yrs...he even called that newspaper editor. BUT WHAT HE NEVER DID WAS TALK TO DOROTHY'S FATHER. That's the only thing he did not want to do. Also...I WONDER if the killer set up that black widow bite. PERHAPS he did...but then again if he was always stalking her he could've just been w8ing for his opportunity and saw it @ the ER

The Renee Sweeney murder was solved in 2023. Robert Wright was convicted of her murder and despite the brutality, was sentenced to life in prison, but eligible for parole after 12 years. He’s also been charged with a sexual assault as of December, 2023.
