I can't thank you enough. Telling me that it's okay to leave helped me decide to get out of a really unhappy au pair situation. You gave me the answer I needed in a really horrible time. Thank you so much

I'm sorry you had a bad situation! But glad you got out of it. Don't give up on au-pairing though, there are some lovely families out there. Best wishes x

I really liked the video! You answered most of my questions. I'm actually going to have an aupair experience, and I had a lot of doubts. Thank you for your advice and kindness.

Can you share how to approach the family and discuss the issue? How did you say that you are gonna leave? What eas their reaction? Like of course you’ll still have to stay with them for a couple of days more, was it awkward knowing that you are gonna leave? Can you share more?

Are you able to go to university? That's one of my main concern because I'm taking a year out and I was wondering if I could also use that year to study in a foreign country and not one of those shitty courses where you barely do any work but proper courses like art or psychology?

I am going to go to the UK by myself, cause the agencies of our country don't work with the UK. My host family told me that they can't pay for my language course, and when I asked do all the families do the same or there are some families who pay, they told me that they don't know families who pay for that. An I want to know do they supposed to pay for my transportation

From website: www.aupairworld.com/en/tos/au_pair_regulations Language course "Au pairs must be given the opportunity to participate in a language course in their host country. Normally, the au pairs pay for their courses by themselves. Should they wish to do so, host families may of course support their au pairs financially with these expenses. In certain countries, however, it is compulsory for host families to pay for the language course of their au pair. Please see our Info Host Countries to find more information on this topic."

There's no legal requirement for them to pay for language classes as far as I know, but I think it's such an important way for an au pair to feel comfortable in the country and au pair wages are usually not very much. It sounds warning bells in my opinion if they are not committed to helping you to settle in a new place, but do talk to them about it and talk to other au pairs - don't just take my word for it! Best of luck xx

Hi, thank you for the useful informations! I have a question: in the Au Pair World website, it says that an Au Pair gets a free language school time. If an au pair works 30 hours a day, when will one be able to study? And I watched some videos and none mentions about the language school thing. Is it a false thing? Thank you!

Often au pairs take classes in the day time, when the kids are at school. Or you could take weekend classes?

Hey, I have some questions... do they pay you the fly? Where do you stay when you go to that country? How about in an emergency cause, per example you feel uncomfortable with the family (maybe it was a lie) or ect. Like a normal person I do have some worries about that the family will end up being a lie, or they abuse us ect?

Hey Jess, what a great & very interesting video that answers a lot of important questions, we're an IAPA registered Au Pair agency that matches host families with Au Pairs across Europe, would love if you could add our website link to your videos when recommending agencies? We're always looking for guest bloggers for our website too if you're interested in blogging as well as vlogging then please let us know your email!
