One thing I no longer care about are late appointments. Turned up at the dentist for a power clean, had to wait a bit then they found that the machine was broken, they were so apologetic. I didn’t really care. I got out, walked to the dentists, and back got my daily steps in and had a lovely chat with two charming lady dentists. Getting stressed out about it would achieve nothing.

Being late is just rude. And 'getting your steps in' is just a made up myth. The idea of walking 10,000 steps a day comes from a hugely successful marketing campaign launched ahead of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. The number was chosen because the Japanese character for 10,000 resembles a person walking, and the idea caught on.

@@tooyoungtobeold8756 They were late because the machine was playing up. who mentioned 10,000 steps? Although there is evidence that the more physically active you are, the longer you will live. I was not going to let a minor occurrence ruin a nice day. Sun was shining, birds singing, etc.

I do take a complete rest day every week. Definitely like meeting motivated younger people. Canadian winter's on its way so, I enjoy the winter as much as the spring, summer and fall. At 66 and now retired, some think I have been learning to speak Russian because many replies end with off. Productive? Not anymore as I am well happy not having to work anymore making assholes richer.

Great tips…. But how do you keep yourself motivated to get up in absence of goals?

No idea. I still have goals. As I said in the video, they are not as complex, difficult and long term.

i don't think it's true that you respect some people's opinions. you respect their right to state their opinions. that's different.

Good video Nick. How much of the changes you mentioned in the video are because you retired and how much is because you turned 60?

Thanks for the endorsement. Elements of both, but mostly as a result of my experiences post retirement.

Hard to achieve goals? Do you mean like that bloke Xaviera Hollander wrote about who booked ten girls to celebrate his seventieth birthday, but only managed seven?

Are you sure that you don't get your teeth fixed just because your wife will say "OK, who is she?" even though she knows perfectly well that there is no 'other woman'?
