Response to Question 1. You've just described Conspiracy Theorists. Response to Question 2. I agree completely. Response to Questions 3. Only if people are gullible and/or a Conspiracy Theorists again. Response to Question 4. Ooo Ryan, by stating all our freedoms are being taking away does seem to err on the side of point one doesn't it? You are stating something that you believe is happening, but cannot fully offer proof. Thus you are declaring you have all the answers. Response to Question 5. Depends on what you mean by how you see things in the future. Your future is irrelevant to others unless they share your narrative. Some people look short-term to help their mental health. Small steps. Sometimes looking too far into the future is unhealthy as you are projecting something that you may believe happen where in fact it may not. And by you stating this, you fall into the category of your third point. Whilst everyone has their point of view and is entitled to it, doesn't mean that any alternative explanation is the way forward. If it suits your narrative and that's all that matters, then you lose sight of critical thinking. It leaves no room for others to express their thoughts and ideas. If that's the case then your points 1, 3, 4 and 5 may make you seem a bit hypocritical. Mainstream media does need checking, but it's not all negative, there is still a lot of good reporting. I do watch BBC News and read their website. Perhaps I'm not as gullible as others, and it does not affect me as I'm intelligent enough to perceive when they are trying to manipulate. I do look elsewhere to ensure I get a balanced view. We do have freedoms as citizens, but we are not totally free. But we never have been. Some freedoms are being eroded and sometimes for the good. One that I have heard the most over the pandemic/lockdown is Freedom of Speech. We've never really had that and people confuse this with the way Freedom of Speech is upheld in the USA. I'm not saying you're wrong or should change tack or even care what I've written. It's simply a response which I suppose you are looking for because you've posted this. Just keep teaching, performing and writing music and books. And if I was going to offer some advice, I'd ignore everything else around you apart from friends, family, music and anything else that keeps you healthy and happy, as it is irrelevant.

Thanks for the feedback. Of course I’m happy to hear other opinions. I see your point about putting my opinion across as fact thus contradicting point one but the evidence for loss of freedom is there. We cannot do things we once used to without fulfilling criteria. We also can’t voice an opinion without heavy backlash and scrutiny. Just look at all the people being pulled on a daily basis. As for conspiracy theorists, I hate that term. It’s just a derogatory term thrown around about people who just don’t follow the narrative. Most of the posts written by these so called theorists have in fact been strikingly accurate. Thanks for your respectful response though, this is indeed what I was hoping for and I full understand that many will disagree with my point of view. Don’t worry, music will still be made!

@@viewfromtheyard7164 - In honesty Ryan, if I've lost some freedoms that I was never aware of in the first place, it doesn't matter to me. I just think that sometimes you have to be a bit selfish and think of yourself and family. I've lived through a lot of successive UK governments, none of them appeal to me, and on a personal basis none of them have affected the way I actually live. I work, I earn, I have a home, a happy family life. I go on holidays, I can travel the vast majority of the world. I can still get medical help at no real cost (compared to the USA), I live in an okay place, the roads are okay, My daughter has done well at school that means they must have been good schools and is currently at Uni. The policing could be better, but again I live in a relatively crime free area. I suppose some might say I've had a privileged life. But when I was young, I was brought up in a council estate and my family were quite poor. I suppose what I'm saying is that if things the government do don't affect me, then everything is fine. Yes, it's a selfish view, but it doesn't mean I don't care about others or try to help them. As to opinions, I think you're right there. Nowadays you have to be careful what and how you say things. You can still have your opinion regardless whether you offend someone or not. It's essential for comedy. But there are some things you shouldn't say. Anything that is discriminatory in any form being an important one. I have to disagree with your take on conspiracy theorists. They are not people who just don't follow the narrative. There is a proof of burden that has to be met and none that I have met or debated with have managed that. They firmly fall into your first and third point. An example is Flat Earth believers. Globebusters which is a Flat Earth channel on KZitem, have moved the goal posts so far to meet their narrative, that now they say that because our eyes are curved they distort the view in favour of a curved! What??? I think that some of the people you believe to be Conspriacy Theorists are in fact people who have far better critical thinking skills. A critical thinker is open to be proven wrong, Scientists are obvious. Musician are another kind. Conspiracy Theorists aren't. They are too far down that rabbit hole. Happy to continue to discuss your points of view and I will always be courteous to you, but will disagree. Just like I have done now! Insert smiley face emoji if I knew how to do that!

@@brettlewis6771 I think we have both misused conspiracy theorists then as I am talking about intelligent people who offer opinions based on undeniable facts not flat Earth folk and those who believe the world is 2000 years old! I commend you for being able to live your life not really caring too much about the government and the plan etc but what do you do when it does start to affect your daily life? I have a young son so can’t help but worry about what the future looks like for him. I wish I could just forget about it and concentrate on day to day life but I’m not wired like that. As I said in the video I know that the majority of people don’t want to face the truth and so would rather not question things and go on as normal and that is fine but for me i just cannot live my life like that. 🙂 have a smiley face though!

@@viewfromtheyard7164 - Hey Ryan.let me think about my answer. Off the top of my head, some of my immediate comments might of a personal nature and so would be better discussed offline. I'm off to bed. Getting old.

@@viewfromtheyard7164 - I might have to break this down into sections. So - 1. Conspiracy theorists vs Intellects. We both agree on that and we both have not misused the term. First off, I'm not a therapist or psychologist. This is the world according to Brett and no-one has to agree with me. From the 70's when I became old enough to vote, I wasn't intellectually aware as I am now. I believed that governments were good and true people that genuinely wanted the best for the country and its people. When I learned otherwise and it was all about the power, no matter which government got in, I turned off politics and looked at what truly affected me by their decisions. And honestly Ryan, it wasn't hard to do. Don't get me wrong, I was still outraged and incredulous of their actions, broken promises and unfairness. But I looked at what would tangibly affect me and the way I live. There are rules we have to abide, whether you or I like them or not. And we have to work with them, because no matter what you try to do be it, protesting, writing letters to your MP, none of it really works. They are in power and can do what they want. So why worry about it, let them get on with it. As soon as I let that go, I concentrated on what was important to me. These are, in no particular order- 1. Education. 2. NHS 3. Policing 4. Travel 5. Family I then look at what the government has done and does to affect all these points on a personal level. And none of the governments I voted in my life have made any difference. I still live my life the same as I did 20, 30, 40 years ago. Perhaps my expectations are low. To me it's pointless trying to change the world around you. The best you can do is manipulate it to your needs. It doesn't mean I don't care, as I said I still get outraged, angry, annoyed, etc. but ultimately I live my life how I want to or would like it to be. Do I have freedom? Yes I do. Have I lost freedoms I might have had? Probably, but it certainly hasn't affected me or my family. So, why should I worry? Is the government trustworthy? Absolutely not,. Can I do anything about it? Yes. I can vote. That's a privilege others do not have. That's also freedom of choice. I just don't worry about governments and their policies. They break them all the time. I have to go to work now - these are the next points I want to discuss. How I view people (rightly or wrongly) - 1. Those that manage their life they way they want 2. Those that follow a narrative opposite to the 'norm' 3. Those that follow an agenda to fundamentally change what they perceive to be the 'norm' 4. Those that follow a belief that has no basis on either a 'norm' or facts. Don't forget, this is just me.
