Wash n go equals single strand knots for me, too. Afros are better for me, as long as I don’t fuss with it too much.

Did you try putting your hair in a pineapple pony tail and then putting on your bonnet every night before you go to sleep in order to cut down on single strand knots?

I switched from creams to foams for my styling, started using scalp serums daily/weekly and only used oils for hot oil treatments. And I started using moisture milks/ fine water spray when refreshing my hair. V part wigs are my go to protective styles so I could wash my hair every 2 weeks.

Fine is different from thin. As the person above said, ur strands can be fine but you have alot so it's thick like hers. Your strand can be thick but you only have a few strands on tour head so it looks thin.

I watched a video last night on how to know the three categories your hair falls into (porosity, thickness and density), and I realised that I was doing so many things wrong. I have low porosity, thin-stranded hair that is dense on my scalp. I have been using heavy oils since thinking that the residue was a good thing and it meant my scalp was moisturised. I am making plans to switch to lightweight oils (some are already underway). I also plan to switch to the LCO method after becoming more enlightened on proper moisturisation. Before, I just did L and O but now I've found out that leave-ins can be used as creams and they are a good way to keep your hair moisturised if you use them with the right procedures. Another factor is the temperature of your water on wash day. I learned that it is good to wash your hair with warm water and rinse with cold water, or to use lukewarm water in both steps. I also learned that it is good to heat your oils before applying them or wrap your hair in a warm towel after applying oils. I don't know if the warm towel method is feasible for me so I will try to warm my oils instead in slightly warm water (don't want to melt the plastic containers they came in). I also plan to start finger detangling when I condition on wash days, then go in with a big wide-toothed comb ONLY. My old regimen while conditioning was to use the big wide-toothed comb, then a wide tooth comb that was narrower, and then a regular afro comb. That is a lot of manipulation now that I think about it. YIKES! I got off protective styles that use extensions because of the tension, heat (West African here), and weight. I also got annoyed with them once I had 1-2cm of growth and could FEEL the braids hanging off my head plus the way they would rub my back was irritating. Lol. They just felt like a lot so I switched to keeping my hair in an afro or braiding just my hair. I've also learned that plaiting may not be the best for my hair so I plan to go back to twists (I dropped them after I learned that I could not keep them long-term. I was exploring ways to save money on hair) and will not feel bad about removing it after 2-3 weeks since I have heard that that is the "shelf-life" of the hairstyle. I'll just try and learn it for myself so that I don't keep spending money at salons 😂. But yeah, those are my plans for the future. The only hindrance I may have is that my building has hard water. I've since switched to a shampoo that cleanses my hair and doesn't make my hair feel stringy EVEN with the hard water so I hope that the new products I get will be good as well. (I also use bottled water for spraying my hair to save my scalp from dryness, I don't know if that's advisable but it's better than hard water 😂). My hair was already growing well even with my mistakes so I can't WAIT to see results from my switch (also less single strand knots. I thought they were a norm 😂).

I found my hair girly! Yess I can’t do a wash and go. Every time I put it in the bonnet, my hair would be flat and squished, dehydrated and tangled. I love flat twist, changed my hair hands down. All I have to do now is hydrate with either water leave moisturizer or mousse. I always seal my ends, and my flat twist are easily refreshed throughout the week. It’s only been a month, and my hair is growing 🎉 Edit: I posted this before fully watching your video, and I absolutely agree with the scalp oiling. I only do it after I washed, and maybe once a week to refresh. The growth oils only made my hair shed more. You hit everything right on the money!!

Just a suggestion for your wash and go game … tie your hair down in a low bun or two low buns - loose on scalp. Fluff out in morning - keeps stretched. I agree oiling is dependent on each individual. I kinda only oil my scalp on wash when my roots are damp.
@NeliaBedilia

I tried the bun thing but it still has my curls looking wanky in the morning with more work to fix. It’s a work in progress but I’ll prob stick to doing wash n gos on occasion lol thanks for the tips !

I only do a wash and go for 3 days and then back to my twists. I've been natural since 2009 and I never did the LOC. Always LCO. I stopped oiling my scalp in 2019 after seeing trichologists who told me to stop. I have to use tools because my strands are so fine that I can feel them between my fingers and figure out what it shed and what is still attached. I use the wet tangle Teezer for fine and fragile hair once a week after deep conditioning and with a detangling leave-in spray conditioner. Yeah I'm on a whole bunch of medications long term including birth control...I'm off the birth control and now I'm trying to come off the rest. the trichologists told me to stop getting extensions because the long-term friction with coarser strands was causing micro-fractures in my strands.

Good tips on fine texture hair. Now there's some liquid leave in conditioning stop the growth of your hair as well. Make sure it's the light liquid leave in conditioning. Also I use Royal Crown Hair dressing once maybe twice a week. And for my liquid leave in conditioning I use Infusium 23 pro sometimes Fantasia IC leave in hair and scalp treatment with vitamin. And that's all I use in my hair. ❤

I also have hair similar to yours. I never took into consideration that the birth control pills I'm taking "could" be affecting & stunting my hair growth. My hair has pretty much been the same length for the past few years. I also do the LCO method. If I'm not being too personal, I do apologize, what are you (if anything) taking in replacement for it?

I let the idea of wash n go styling go. It simply dries out my hair too much. My hair does best when clumped almost all the time. Agreed on LCO not LOC and finger detangling primarily. I'm a lot older than you, so for me it's adding in hormones that helps my hair, but either way, hormones definitely affect hair growth.

It will thicken up, just get a proper hair cut at a salon, and deep condition every week, use a light shampoo not them thick ones and blow dry on low heat and keep ur hair in a low bun, with some nice light oil , eat healthy too
