Only one that I don't follow is #1, I have very sensitive skin and even after a single day of not washing my beard my upper lip starts to go red. I use the citrus Head and Shoulders, and afterwards use beard oil and it leaves both my beard and skin looking clean. Also the only stray hairs I clip are on my chin since that's where my beard is thickest, anything stray on my cheeks I try and pull back down with oil, I don't like using wax since it makes my beard feel really stiff.

I like the term "hedge trimming." I try not to do this, but some of my whiskers are such crazy outliers, I end up snipping them back anyway. On my mustache, however, any stray that I can see sticking straight out without using a mirror is clipped asap. My rationale is that I've got a thousand or so whiskers; knocking back a few of them surely won't be a problem. Great video and great beard!

Greg, I thoroughly enjoy watching the Beardbrand videos. Your posts are always very informative and helpful. I have been growing my beard for a month now and most likely made some mistakes. Specifically, I trim back the rogue hairs.. Now, after watching this video I will be growing them out instead. Do you trim the cheek lines or is that natural as well? What about under the beard. I trim mine about an inch above the Adam’s apple? My goal is a bead like yours. Also, my beard seems to be growing uneven. What should I do?

I went back to stubble in order to regrow after a 'hedge trimming' incident. I always thought it made sense to not trim the sides as they only become harder to style, but I succumb to wanting a tidier look. Knowing you don't allow hedge trimming has given me the determination to let it grow. After seeing your styling routine I'm going to buy a round brush for control, can't wait for it to grow back! Thanks for the tips!

I let my stache (which has always been thin) grow for over three months to see how long it would get. Won't do that again. Shaved the side under the ears. It was way out of control! I get food in my beard probably every meal and I don't eat like a pig, I just keep napkins around all the time, but just because I use napkins doesn't mean my beard is clean! I love your vids bro, but PLEASE explain! edit: p.s. doesn't the product get all crusty over night? also, what is wrong with washing it every day?

Definitely scarfs and anything with a high collar is out (funnel neck jackets etc) Annoyingly for me I work outside. I style my 18 month beard every morning ( blow dry/balm) and within 10 minutes I look like castaway. Definitely don’t trim the strays. The more you trim the more strays you get. I learned the hard way and now I’m trying to grow all the trimmed strays out so one day I have a nice uniform look all round. Great vid as always. ))

I don't wash my beard that often either, aside from it being bad for the beard it's just bloody annoying to keep drying it which can also damage it. I prefer to dry my beard first before going to bed, if that means I will be sleeping a hour later then so be it. I currently do trim stray hairs, but you making a valid point. I think I will rethink that one. I don't have any specific beard products, this mainly because there are none in my area so far I know of. Aside from that, I never knew there were any. A scarf is what i used to wear, even with beard. But now my beard is much longer it just doesn't sit nicely at all. So I rather skip the scarf entirely. Others touching my beard, well I don't really mind that at all.

I moved 2100 miles with my 10 year old son in tow, for the woman i have loved for 28 years. I fell in love with her the first time i heard her voice. We dated twice, i was 16 she 12. 24 years later we talked on the phone for the first time. 4 more years went by, and finally i got to fly out to indiana to see this woman whom i have never forgotten and have loved since. We hit it off amazingly. I left with her as my girl, flew back to bring my son to meet her. 3 months later my son, i and 2600.00 to are names moved with just our cloths to indiana in hopes of my being with this beautiful woman for the rest of my life. I have never wanted a beard , She loves beards so i have grown one for her. July 19th Marks 1 year since we moved here. I have started a business and regular life is great. Sad to say the woman i moved for isnt with me any more. Im heart broken to say the least. I lived 2100 miles away for 28 years , now for the past year within 5 miles of my dream girl and i can still only dream of her and will Forever. The point of my story is i will grow this beard just to make her jealous! I have to admit i'm liking the Beard! Thanks for listening....And for the tips!

My professional work was as a French horn player. As such, when I grew a beard I had to trim my mustache away from my lips. Now that I'm retired, I won't trim the hair away. Makes my handlebar much more successful!

Do you have to shave it off when you get plastic surgery done?

Thanks for the video. I have been blessed by genetics to have thick facial hair, and have not been clean shaven since I was 18. (I'm now 64!). I have had either a mustache, goatee or full beard. Personally, I like to keep my beard nicely shaped and trimmed and not let it get too long. I just like that look. Living in a climate which has quite cold winters, not wearing a scarf is not an option, especially when subzero temperatures occur. And, I love to have my beard touched!

Question about your rule number 1. I work in printing and my beard usally gets ink, paper dust, oil, and grease in it. I have to wash it everyday. Is that causing any damage or affecting growth? If so is there anything I can do help it?

I'm gonna take your advice on the not hedge trimming stray hairs. and as for myself, I wash my beard every day and rinse it off throughout the day, however that's more due to necessity, I'm pretty sure we have very contrasting careers.

Greg ace vid, and may i say your beard is beaut. Right I am a newbie Beardy been growing since end Jan 2018 so questions, does it make a difference to growth if you sleep on left side or right side of face, 2 how do you manage a moustache do you wax just the tips or can you wax all through. 3 i am scared of going to barber to pamper my beard ,i not want them chopping away at it. 4 how do you decide on a style , when i look at it it seem to have a natural cavelier chin style but i also want the full sides. Sorry so long msg.

My beard is extremely curly. Very thick and curly. I'm new to beard products. Using oils and balms currently but can't seem to get it straight. Even with a hair dryer. Any tips or should I just accept it won't look as neat and tidy like yours

Joesph, you may benefit from trying out a heated straightening brush on your beard. Let me grab you a video that Greg did about one of them: kzitem.info/news/bejne/qIim3aeYemOapXY - Jack
