So I’ve been binge watching your videos for a while and well I wish I did it before I settled on a family. So I will say this to anyone looking into AuPairing .... 1.Do Your research about the area especially proximity to the city or shopping malls... 2.Take your damn time, don’t rush to start. You will end up with a family that is not a good match to you 3.Have a contract that clearly states the hours you work a day, your day offs, what you are expected to do and that is honestly the best time to state your expectations with the family eg say you work overtime, how much is the compensation?,curfews, overnight babysitting arrangements .Do not,I repeat do not try to please them. Remember in as much as you want to be part of the family you are there to make money too and have an experience of a different country. 4.Have a Skype call with the kids around as many times as possible so that you know exactly what you are getting yourself into.Parents have a tendency of downplaying their kids behaviour so 5minutes of a video call can honestly give you a glimpse of what your day will be like lol. 5.Living conditions...I ended up sleeping with bed wetting kids 😆so ask such stuff 6.And if you are already an AuPair and at any point you feel taken advantage of ,do speak to them and the way they respond will show you whether they are worth staying with or whether it’s you que to look for another family .Remember your well-being and mental health are VERY VERY important 7.Have savings like she was saying in case it doesn’t work out . I hope this helps someone!

Something that I nearly forgot was checking out if there are any language schools nearby (pickpockets off the "know your surroundings" point)

Pro Tip: Also look for public transportation nearby in case you need to take the bus/metro to your language schools or other destinations :)

Dear au pair oh pairs, I really like your chanell, I'm sure you've helped a lot of People out, and saved a lot of people from horror experience thx to this chanell! And I hope you can help me out in this situation that I have now🙈 in February 2020 I was going to go to china to be an au pair. I was before that very unsure about the au pair organisation though, but at that time when I had applied (Juli 2019) my life felt terrible, hated my job, and didn't know what to do with my life and I just felt like anything would be better than being where I was, I wasn't afraid about what would happen to me bcs I felt like I had nothing to loose. But then Corona came and my travel got postponed until undecided date. The months went though (did not have a job) but have been living at my parents place🙈 but I find my way back to something I love and always have but never given myself the time to do it and that is to paint💖 know it's a hard business doing art buy I really feel like I want to try! But here's the struggle, they are now talking about opening up the boarders to china, but I'm no longer sure that I want to go bcs. I feel like I have something to lose that I have been lacking a lot these last year's (joy!💖). And I've started to get some hope for my future again. But my love for china is still there, the family feels nice and I'm afraid to regret it I I don't go. But the organisation has told me that I should apply for a tourist visa first and then for a cultural exchange visa when I get there, and that I should not tell the embassy here about that bcs they say that they are not familiar with it. This is what's making me so scared to go as well, is it common to do it like that??? Also I have only videochatted with the family once and the father wasn't even in the videochatt, (really stupid of me to not check it out more and videochatt more I know but I was desperate to get away a year ago🙈) and now I already has signed a contract and will have to pay mony if I don't go (but maby I will try to see if it's not as strict now when its like it is in the world and bcs. Our government suggest not to travel to china until mars 2020, but don't know if it will help) I'm sorry for a very long messenge but I really need help, would you have gone if you where in my situation? Thank you for everything you do, the au pair world really needs this chanell! Thank you in advance Much love from Sweden💖 Kind regards Johanna

Hi Johanna, thank you for your message! Everyone has their own reasons for becoming an au pair. Personally, I felt lost as to where I should go before college, so I took a year to grow, travel, meet new people and work. I loved that decision because it was what I needed and what I wanted. I cannot tell you what to do, because that's the beautiful thing, you are the owner of your future and you get to decide how it looks like! I know it probably wasn't the answer you were looking for but honestly, the best thing to do is to listen to your gut and do what it says. I can tell you something though, you will not regret becoming an au pair, because regardless of your experience, it will be a year that will help you grow as an individual. If you do decide to go to China, don't hesitate to contact us! Good luck! - Veronica from Au Pair Oh Paris. xoxoxo

@@aupairohparis6083 Okay thank you for answering! I will listen to your advice and try to follow my gut, Unfortunately I don't think that I will be going to china in the nearest time but if I do I will definitely contact you again💖 I'm still interested in au pairing though, and will of course continue to support this chanell✨

Depends on the program you use, but a lot of Au Pair programs do want you to complete some hours at a language school! Just research whether it is required of you or not. And I’d suggest you travel with at least a very basic level of French 😊😊😊

Peas and carrots is a saying that states that two things go well together :D lol. The movie "Forest Gump" uses that reference.

Dalma Pall in general, au pairs are between the ages of 18-26. And no, if anything ay pairing boosts your resume because now you are able to speak another language and have a certificate from a foreign language school!
