This video is worth its weight in gold. I left being a lawyer in the profession to striking out to take risks for myself. I learned I must be completely mum about my plans and not coincidently because the discussion here is intuitive as well, I paid close attention to how I used to be stuck - and what I needed to do to become unstuck. All the ways I became unstuck had to start with keeping my affairs to myself and then put one foot in front of the other - all unfolded - in fits and starts and with fear and failures but this is how you go.... and then you start to build tiny successes and on it goes precisely in the way it's discussed in this video. You will surely become more satisfied and fulfilled in your life, building successes, increasing your abilities beyond your imagination, and most of all creating a beautiful mind as a grateful participant in this universe. Take this video, understand what it says deeply, and take it to heart.

There is no need to share anything personal, unless you can do it anonymously or with a therapist. Edit: I've learned that the hard way. I have an oversharing problem.

I had waited to share my story with a "friend" of both myself and my wife. I was at my wits end trying to understand my wife's gripes and grievances towards me. Her anger. Her out of the blue attacks towards me. I waited years to share this with our mutual friend. I thought maybe this friend would talk with my wife about my feelings and how I was feeling and maybe ask her questions as to why she acts out so angrily towards me. Or not say anything at all. Just hear me and understand what I was dealing with. This "friend" just threw me under the bus big time.

my friend. Why did you not address your wife herself? Why do you not seek marriage counseling? Why do you look to another outside of your marriage to solve your marriage? Please please find a therapist.

20 minutes and 32 seconds in, they f'd up. The AI voice suddenly changes and it is not hers. Brené Brown would never say this! Her WHOLE viewpoint is to TAKE THE ARMOR OFF! Be Vulnerable!! This is all about suspicion of others and self protection! Does she know her voice was stolen??!! People, please, be very careful of what ideas you are consuming. Listen for uniform pauses. Flat vocal tone. Weird breath or pacing. Brené's voice is livelier. She makes mistakes. She makes jokes. She laughs. Do not take this messaging to heart, please. The advice here is wrong. Polar opposite it is so wrong!

Yes, be vulnerable with the right people and in the right circumstances. Suicidal vulnerability would be to do so indiscriminately. The wise person discerns with whom and when. For example, a romantic partner only feels safe to be vulnerable with you when they know you won't go gossiping to 3rd parties about it. It's not healthy vulnerability to then go and share it with everyone else. It's betrayal. We have armor for good reason.

@@Incognicia what is your problem? I asked about the source because I loved the material and would like to dive deeper. I have followed her work for over a decade, and so I asked where the material was from. All her talks I have heard the last 10 years, are either workshop talks recorded, podcasts or her TED talk / Netflix talk. And she has a very different style in all those. So I assumed she was reading from a book here - asking about it, because I loved it and wanted to find it. Why do you need to answer my comment with anything but what I am asking for? Do you know the source or not? Don't give me an unsolicited lesson on talks and how they are crafted, to someone who works with public speaking for a living. Find better things to do, please. Or be helpful, and answer the question in my comment.

I agree , something is off. I’ve listened to her for year and there is some inflection missing in her voice . Even when she is reading aloud for an audiobook she talk differently than this. My apologies is this is actually her and she intended to read aloud this way. Edited to include : if you click the description and scroll down it does say : “Altered synthetic content was made: sounds or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated.” So that’s why it doesn’t sound like her.

You don't avoid talking to people. You avoid oversharing. People aren't responsible for your struggles and you don't need a bunch of voices telling you what to do either. Self awareness and emotional intelligence comes from internal work-praying, journaling. You re going to be so much better off if you face the challenges and do what needs to be done without other people coddling you or worse, leaving your life because you can't face challenges like an adult. People love to just blather on about whats bothering them, then they get validation and the feel good chemicals are released in their brain and you know what happens then? They don't solve the problem. The just keep complaining and being the victim to whoever wants to listen and it becomes a cycle that will likely destroy their life over time. I've watched it happen. That is what is dangerous

Does this sound like an AI copy of Brené Brown's voice to anyone else? It's repeatative. The gaps between sentences are uniform. Her breath sounds backwards in places. I agree with the need of self regulation. But I don't know that there is this need of privacy. I think Brené works well with others. And she is able to stay connected AND protect her personal boundaries. This audio does not feel exactly like her work. Connecting with others is the Reason for Being. This advice is damn lonely. This seems to suggest we have to be perfect and self-aware with all challenges involved resolved before we talk with others. That is completely unreasonable! Sometimes we work through things with others. And that is ok. We also all have blind spots. Yeah, the more I listen, this is self-protective bs and NOT Brené's work or thoughts.

It is AI, but I didn't catch it until the contextually incorrect pronunciation of the word 'present' as in gift, instead of the correct context " to offer" w the emphasis on the second syllable. Although until then, I wondered why 'she' sounded like 'she's was reading off something, and slightly bored. 😂

Title: “5 Things to Never share with anyone”? Be circumspect about such absolutes. Poor choice of titles IMO. Various good points made throughout, but really repetitive. I favor more parsimonious talk, and less monotonous tone. Half as long. Also- very based in a hyper-individualism-based culture. Very stoic and familiar to me. But it can often inadvertently keep one in a bubble-wrapped perspective. It can be sometime more healthily gradually arrived at, rather than practiced for its own sake or as an end in itself. I wondered how this video lands in the ears of cultures w/ more community-based values.
