It can be helpful to test your overnight setup while you still have an indoor residence. I used guest parking at upscale apartments, and discovered I’d need some rearrangements to my car bed. Most rest stops would have also been good practice.

These are great tips, really, I wouldn’t have thought about upcoming expiration dates on cards and I.D.’s really smart. If you are looking for work, consider using a UPS Store for your mail, it appears to be an apartment address, which can be used even on you I.D. For example, where a P.O. Box can’t. There are also some mail forwarding services like Mail USA that has 3 states to register in, and they will forward your mail wherever you are. Also one last thing. Check with your car/vehicle insurance and see if the roadside assistance is a part of your policy. Also, in Texas the emergency phone number is on the back of the Texas drivers license usually above the bar code or similar. Ok, one last tip I recently saw. If you break down, lost, stranded etc put the last known location, description on your outgoing voicemail. If your phone dies, anyone that is trying to reach you will hear that outgoing message and potentially send help to you.

Adding onto the 5th one. Changing your oil, refilling your windshield washer fluid and changing a tire are pretty simple but if you're going to be doing these things yourself, you will need space for your fluids and spare tire. If you don't have space for a spare, make sure you have AAA.

Look up your specific year make and model and they have a bunch of forums articles and specs for you to read. Start with your maintenance schedule and try to follow it. You can also watch a video here on YT to do maintenance if you want to learn how to fix it yourself. Also should try to over time gather tools, extras, and emergency stuff you may need. If you want your car to take care of you, I've learned you have to take care of your car fr I know a lot of times it's a matter of money more than anything but reality is you want it to last you and if you maintain it, barring big issues, the car should last you. Getting a realistic picture of when you need to get let's say an oil change or tune up, new tires etc will at least give you a fair shot at being able to budget and be able to come up with the money. Helps so much with cars that are 7-10 years or older, but really any and every car needs regular attention and care.

Are you pretty young? I'm jw because I didn't learn these things till I was older; You can have anything delivered to a post office. Also, younger people hand this tendency of not looking to the future so.. Say your card expires in 5 yours and you're still living in your car... now what? You can get it sent to a post office now or 5 years from now, either way, you're not going to get a whole apartment just to have a private address to send a card to. I'm not hating, just trying to give the insight of an older person who only recently learned to look into the future lol ;)

@@Stefanburakov The $ 19.99/day is not for their own car, but for a RENTED van. In case they can't sleep in their van due to it being at the mechanics.
