🎥 5 things you didn't know about Beria the executioner-in-chief:
🟠 One of the most ruthless mass murderers of the twentieth century, he was Stalin's chief executioner, responsible for running the Soviet forced labour camp system and the chief organiser of the nuclear project. At the dawn of his political career, he executed tens of thousands of people in his homeland, only to go as far as the Chechen genocide two decades later. He was one of Stalin's closest aides, and under his rule he wielded immense power as the engineer-precise head of the Soviet secret police. In the twilight of his life, his fate caught up with him: he begged and panted for his executioners to let him live, but they still snuffed out his life with the exact same coldness with which he tortured people and gave the orders that started the massacres. He was Lavrenty Pavlovich Beria, about whom we learn 5 facts in a little more detail, illustrated with pictures.
