In Dallas, Larry Bird jumped over the end line in the Celtics offensive zone to save the ball from going out of bounds. He looked while in mid air for someone to save it to, but could not. He was well behind the end line and took the shot having no other option. From behind the end line, over the backboard and swish!!! The Dallas crowd went nuts even though it was a very close game and it went against their team. It was an unbelievable play that I will never forget!

@mac88white

@@patricialucero1767 I would say that by being rough and talking trash, players were introducing mortal and emotional elements into the game. This meant that you had to be more than just a good basketball player, you had to be a physically and mentally tough human being as well. Who could put up 28\11\7, 24/13/2, 17/15/5. 3 high end bench players, and they played grown man defence. yes lebron would be dominant yes the big names like the hardens and the durant's will be great. @@metalgoysolidgigagoyim8346 The skill gap is huge and no they 80's celtics couldn't compete today. Not only are they athletically outmatched. The average player on the court today does far more than your average players of the older eras. Many couldn't even dribble or shoot with both hands, let alone create space off the dribble for getting their own shot. You're talking about an era where you could get into the league for simply being tall. Literally guys were recruited because of their height not talent. That would never happen in the modern league, it's a pure skill game.

Great video to break down the details of these 5 occurrences where Bird got the last word. As a teenager watching him play I never knew the nitty gritty details of the relationships he had with the players. I enjoyed all of these stories and especially the one where his ex-college bully teammate came to Boston and got so humiliated he melted down and got ejected. Bird was a badass to mess with and sure proved it on the court. My favorite memory was when he stole the inbound pass dishing it to DJ for the winning layup. I saw that game live on TV and it was very exciting to see.

My favorite Larry Bird moment... I grew up in Terre Haute, IN. and went to West Vigo High School in West Terre Haute. Larry Bird did his student teaching and was an assistant baseball coach at my school during his senior year at ISU. My absolute favorite Larry Bird moment was walking on top of the bleacher seat so that I could get a glimpse of Larry walking the halls of the high school surrounded by the students. He was a super star in that town. That's a pretty cool memory for me. Of course, the entire city were huge fans of Larry and the ISU team for the 2 years that they were relevant back then. To witness the team going into the NCAA championship game undefeated was great. Watching Larry cry at the end of the game when Magics Michigan State team beat them was heartbreaking. Then to watch Boston beat LA in the second season of Larry vs. Magic was also great. I'm certain that every generation has a sporting hero that ignited a re-birth of a league or organization. To be able to watch Larry and Magic bring the NBA back to the forefront was great for me. I'm sure that there would have been someone else who would have done it eventually, but those two players absolutely did it.

Drazen was the real deal! So unfortunate as to his untimely life and career. He would have been a absolute stud in the nba for many years

Hes extremely recognized and appreciated - its just been so long that younger generations are now finding him on KZitem. Top 5 player of all time, perhaps only second to Jordan, considering his leadership and his will to win. This man hated to lose with such a passion.

I grew up in the 90's never really saw Bird play but i always heard and never believed he was such a killer like people said. Then i went to Basketball camp one summer and this dude they called lil' Larry or lil' Legend. Looked and played just like Bird. "Pffft....ill guard em. Light work" Bruh...he didnt shoot one shot and i still couldnt guard him. I was baffled. Then MY HOMIE says "yo, he aint even start shootin yet" and my blood got cold. He started shootin...and i, well at least i wasnt LITERALLY butchered from mid range for the next week. It was living hell. Now i watch these Bird vids that really explain his greatness and im like "Fuggen Lil' Larry, that bastard!" I had no clue what it meant to be compared to Bird even jokingly. I thought "oh, hes gonna live on the outside and shoot all day? Ill be there..." Pfft...i was never there.

Growing up just a few miles away from French lick everybody wanted to be Larry bird growing up. Not one game stands out above the rest because every game he played he played with complete heart. Whether it was scoring 60 or 42 or 50 it didn’t matter. He made his whole team better. He laid his body out game after game sacrificing it for the team. Larry bird was called Larry legend, and he always will be to me.

I have seen them all play. Red Auerback, Pat Riley, Magic, Kareem and many more, consider Bird on another level. I have my favorites, MJ, Wilt, Kareem, Baylor, Big O, Kobe, LJ, West, Dr. J, Pettit, Pistol etc. BUT, this white guy playing unlike anyone before was so very very special. So the PEERS of his time know, this man really was a legend and young players today this is not BS.

LARRY BIRD is the MAN, when I watched Larry play as a young black kid, I knew he was going to be THE MAN in the NBA and players were gonna gun for him, but I kept on supporting Larry from my home, I live in wash, d.c. all my life and LOVED watching Larry take it to whomever he was the guy EVERYONE LOVED TO HATE because they could not stop him, I'm shedding bit of tears just typing this today and I'm 55 yrs old, boy that BROTHER can play with that pill, I marveled at Larry when he played, and I NEVER GAVE UP ON HIM, SO MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT FOR THE MAN LARRY BIRD...the quiet ASSASSIN ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😊😊👍🏾

Feel sorry for anybody that didn't get to see this generation of players, bird will always be my first ,when he played he would do something that everybody was going to talk about all week, too many great games or records or trophy that not even mj had ,when you say larry bird ,put some respect on his name ,magic said larry was the better player ,and the record confirm it ,give him his flowers, take color out of it ,greatness is greatness no matter how you slice it #respect ❤❤💯‼️

His actual physicality is underestimated. He was not far from 6’ 10” and was wide shouldered and deceptively brawny.

NBA was on another level, Larry & Magic turned a league of hot dogs, all just going for personal stats-‘I got mine, to hell with yours’. I watched Larry & Magic turned it back to a team passing games. Jordan didn’t save the NBA, Larry & Magic did.

it was a game. Not just 3point shot, run down the court for another 3point shot.
