As someone who is autistic and has a few sensory issues when it comes to food, I can see where you're coming from, but I feel it would just be better if a compromise was made. Such as someone not liking the taste of tomato, they could replace it with a herb or they don't like the texture of chicken, they could blend the meat. Also, most of the times when it comes to children disliking vegetables it's that it tastes bitter or soap-like to them, most eventually grow out of this (there is a study of it, read it few years ago so my knowledge may be incorrect). Or parents just prepare the food that it tastes like bland paste or overly season it.

d3n Exactly! Kids eat when they have been taught to eat since toddlers. If their first food is fruit with veggies, they’ll grow up to normally eat it. However most parents give their kids baby puff food, fruit gummies, poptarts, ect then introduce plant based foods afterwards... and be dumbfounded when their kids don’t want anything to do with it.

My son's taste drastically changed. He use to eat pickles, avocados, all sorts of veggies... some times what he likes changes from one day to the next. Anyways, one day he refused to eat pizza with veggies on it. I was like, 'this is ridiculous. He's had this before, I he needs to eat this.' Well, he did, and then he threw it up. The solution for a child who is a picky eater will not always be so cut and dry I'm afraid.

Caroline Mikaelson Absolutely, but don’t replace the pizza with something uhealthy as that reinforces the behavior. Instead offer different healthy options. Instead of the pizza try avocado on bread, hummas and crackers, ect. It’s okay to not like all healthy foods. The issue is children are only eating processed junk. - In addition, the food culture in America is extremely bad. Most people think pizza with veggies on it is healthy when in fact it’s a processed food.

@@saras.301 The old saying “kids won’t let themselves go hungry” is a lie and actually contributes to disassociation with food in general. From what I’ve been hearing the best way is to get the kids involved in the food process and try new things all the time. I like the last moms thing where they have to try at least 5 bites. Those two kids at the end only didn’t like it, because their dad already told them they wouldn’t because HE doesn’t like it lol. I thought that was super rude of him tbh and it set them up to not be open to at least decide for themselves what they like. And that bit about “starving” by the parents with the smoothie and this dad with the snack rule, that is EXACTLY why their kids don’t eat well. They’re more likely to be nutritionally deficient than starving honestly.

I think maybe it's a good idea to give them choices when it comes to healthy foods. I myself don't like dried fruit bc that's just my palette. The health mom really bothered me. She was a condescending to the mom. You can easily do healthy food cheap. You buy your veggies in bulk, sometimes frozen, generic brands instead of on-brand, dehydrate you’re own fruit, and buy at bargain stores like Walmart and Aldi. As long as you check your ingredients you can find things that don’t have bad stuff in them. Nothing has to be expensive I really hate that is a common thread when it comes to healthy eating stereotypes.

He liked to nap and sit at the bar. Somehow he was average weight, decent looking, and kinda nice to hang out with. Actually, the 5 bites rule is clever. Exposure to new foods or foods you don't like get your budtaste used to the taste and you can even learn to love foods you previously didn't like. It works for both adults and kids. The reason why people don't like food is because they try once and never touch it again if they didn't like it. I tried this method of exposure for several foods and it worked all the time for things I didn't like ( lamb, green peppers, mint, cilantro...etc)
