As someone that runs ethernet for part of my job, that zip tie cable tie trick might be a game changer when I run out of wire clips.

@@Naturally_827 I hateeee when people staple them all the way up the wall. Most construction uses Cat5e still so when we go to do a pull through to drop cat6 or 7 we have to snake around. Not to mention how often they cut into the cables doing that. Just so much ptsd from it lol

The best is when it's a all fiber build, and they staple the fiber down compressing it and then they'll put it at right angles 🥲 lol it's just like "what were you thinking???"

Bottlecaps are usually MDPE a known thermoplastic that A. Burns and B. Melts in high temperatures, like being used as an insulator

@@NiNjaTurtLe697 as you know, wire carry electricity. If you use the wrong material, it will generate heat and eventually start a fire. That fire will burn the other wire from the outside and eventually burn the entire house specifically houses made out of wood

I liked all of the hacks...but as an electrician I strongly suggest that you never make an isolation with melted plastic bottle caps...because all of elétrica cables we use are made of good polímeros XLPE and others, all of them chemically built to resist the heat and prevent fires on your house/company. So, call an electrician. He'll know what to do.

These tips are cool and quick, but they don't look nice. I work with my dad on construction jobs and we always try to make everything look nice and (depending on the project) make it easier for the next guy so when he looks at that he says to himself, "that person knew what he was doing."👍

Yeah, its a pretty cheap way to get it done if youre on a budget. They sell zip ties with a slot in the to screw them in. Making it easier to replace one nicely, but if the cable will never move during the lifespan of that room before remodel, the staples are just fine.

You have to imagine the tile adhesive, which isn't present here, strecthing out a little; as you make the tiles level using the ziptie.. Once the adhesive is cured, there is no 'empty space'. - This is a very crude way of doing it, but modern day tile-setting, in construction, actually uses a system based on this very technique. I use a side cutter to cut the tail off zip ties and also to cut my nails. Try it on your nails sometime, works great 👍

Great ideas. Thanks. I would make 1 suggestion to make the last one even better. Instead of using wire cutters to trim zip ties, I recommend flush cutters, especially the angled micro cutters at hardware stores, Amazon or McMaster. They're as cheap as $7 to 10 and cut right at the zip tie clamp and you won't catch fingers or fabric on the sharp end any more.

Using plastic to hold up wires is no longer legal because when they melt in a fire the wire falls which can be bad if you're a firefighter

Stapling the ziptie is bloody epic. Not as strong as a dedicated mount but will work very well in many situations.

Never use crap under tile unless it's adhesive meant to set tile.. The little wedge creates a void under the tile, and on the edges and corners that can be disastrous

Wow this is very nice training for people who wish to learn hand work. And for someone who is just ideal it's an opportunity to learn and get up employ yourself incase you have no job or work to do, don't wait for employment that is not even to be heard or seen around or far from you.

If you want to be homeless or help employ firefighters, go for it. Otherwise, never ever do this, it's dangerous, doesn't actually insulate or support the connection, and has the potential to generate chlorine gas, or other extremely toxic gasses depending on the plastic.

I will say that the coating the exposed wires with a melted plastic bottle cap was a pretty good idea and not too shabby to use in a pinch because you really don't want to try connecting wires by twisting them together at the bare minimal you want to use a butt connector and really you should use solder but you could after soldering some wires together use melted plastic if you did have electrical tape or Shrink tubing

Do NOT insulate cable with melted on plastic! Use a purpose made connector.. eg Crimp Butt connector or WAGO or connector block!

1. Ruins scissors cutting PVC pipe so it will barely hold onto another pipe. 2. Chips wood by using power tools instead of just twisting it in with a pair of pliers or just your fingers 3. Lights house on fire by melting random plastic onto wires instead of using plastic heat shrink tubing which is rated for the temperatures wires might reach

I definitely would not melt plastic without a gas mask if you’re in an enclosed room (in fact, I wouldn’t recommend you do it in an enclosed room at all), but as long as you take safety precautions and are in a well-ventilated area, I guess you could use the hack, although you should keep in mind that specific types of plastic can be poor insulators. So it may work in a pinch if you’re a pyro and no electrical tape, but honestly, it’d just be better to go get some electrical tape or even just leave the wiring exposed temporarily (but either don’t use the charger or be careful while using it).
