Which of these fur painting techniques will you be using in your watercolour paintings? Do you use any others? Let me know in a comment below. And don't forget to check out my video on a VERY furry Raccoon too: kzitem.info/news/bejne/moB-wK55hV9me34

Hi Kristine, yes that is my home-made brush I call 'The Replicator'. LOL I have a number videos on here where I do mention it, but here is quite an old one where I show how I made one of these peculiar and rough (but effective) looking brushes. Paul 🎨 tinyurl.com/bdfm7n65

Hi! I'm in the middle of painting a mother grizzly doing a little fishing to feed her cubs in the background. I'm trying to keep the bears from clashing into the forest background. I'm very new to watercolors after doing acrylics for many years.

Hi Rhonda, what a lovely project to be working on! As long as you keep the background less defined and to a duller, cooler feel, the bears should come forward a little more. Enjoy the process, Paul 🎨

LOL Merci, Paul bit.ly/2HKTDAv

Age shouldn't be a barrier Gayle. I have a list of all the materials I use on my website if it helps. As you have found out, you don't need a lot of equipment, but good reliable (not too expensive) brushes are a must. May I ask how long this took you to do approximately and roughly how many layers do you estimate? Thanks.
@TheDevonArtist

As a guess I would say four layers, starting with a background wash, then light, mid and dark layer tones for the details. Time wise, hard to say, but I would place it around the 15 hours mark. 😊

Hi Heather, sadly I don't know the stockists where you are. If you have a look at my product's page, it will give you some ideas on the items you need to search for over cross the water there. devonartist.co.uk/materials-i-use-or-recommend-for-realistic-watercolour/ I'm guessing the Winsor & Newton size 00 brushes should at least be available where you are. Thank you very much Mandar. Ooh, a Lion, now that's an excellent challenge for you. Why not test out on some scrap watercolour paper using some fine lined masking fluid to reserve some hairs. You can even add the masking fluid over the top of paint as well, but remember to test any ideas out first. Paul 🎨
