I agree with you. We have different ways to respond to the question " How are you? "I'm fine. " has been used for more than 200 years as long as the history of the USA. However, it's not because it's an inappropriate way but because it's boring and seen as a cliche.

Hello, thank you very much for what you do, I find this channel very useful! Please would you explain me one thing? In comments below I've noticed an interesting sentence: "Who was Mr. Smith going to a new house with?" As far as I get it, a girl asked if this sentence implies an intention (Future Continuous used in the Past). But to me it simply means that "Mr. Smith was ON HIS WAY (in other words WALKING) to a new house with someone". I don't quite get your point on this question, so does this sentence mean that Mr. Smith was walking or was going (to go/intended to go) to a new house? Thank you!

Hi Aida, 'ill' and 'sick' are the same. 'Pain' is a noun, 'hurt' and 'ache' are the same and are verbs. 'Disease' is a noun and represents a widespread virus or other harmful thing people can catch and spread.

‘How are you’ question always slightly stresses me out because we don’t ask that question here in Japan unless your counterpart doesn’t look too well, even though I know it works differently in English language and I’m not supposed to take it seriously.
