Hi guys, thank you so much for making these videos. I have a question i would like you to answer me. I am a begginer, after listening all your advices i figured right foot should be my front foot( when someone push me, sliding on the ice and everything). I don't know why, but now, after a couple days of snowboarding i don't feel natural with "goofy" style, always when i turn on "regular" it feels so much easier. Only "one foot riding" i can't do when i riding "regular" :/ What am i supposed to do now? What do you guys think its better? Force my "goofy" riding? Or just riding "regular" and one foot riding "goofy" (t-bars...)? Is it possible to do so?
@TheHellis
7 жыл бұрын
I have a question that I can not find the answer for in any of your videos. When do you need riser plates, and how does it change your riding? I have my board set up 15 degree duck stance on a wide board just to compensate for my feet but I still think they sometimes drag in the snow. I have read some posts on internet saying you loose feeling on the board and it's harder to turn. What is your opinion? Have you tried them? Thanks for a great channel! I have spent many hours watching your videos the past couple of days now that I'm home with my baby.
@ChrisEyres
7 жыл бұрын
technically the higher you are the harder it will be to keep weight over the edges, and id say youre right - the more material between your feet and the board the less feeling and finesse you'll have. might not be the answer you want, but if youre a big person with big feet then get a nice wide board with no overhang. also some boots are thicker than others so this can make a difference - thanks for watching

Hi Kevin, another great video... I had already picked up these tips from your other videos and I agree that they helped my riding ENORMOUSLY and consequently my confidence has soared. I'm really really having trouble riding switch though... I feel like a total beginner again. I ride regular stance, so is that a problem for switch?? Do I have to change to goofy or is it possible to stick with regular and still learn to ride switch???
@ChrisEyres
7 жыл бұрын
it can be a little confusing, but basically: regular = left foot forward, goofy = right foot forward, switch = riding with your opposite foot forward. so for you (and me riding regular) switch is with the right foot at the front. when i started it was the same, i felt like a total beginner. but keep going and you will get it.
@bev9708
7 жыл бұрын
OHHHH, I see!!! Great thank you so much Chris. I thought goofy meant that your two feet point in two different directions!!!
@ChrisEyres
7 жыл бұрын
Bev when your feet point in different directions its called 'duck stance'. when i started my back foot was neutral (at zero angle) and my front foot pointing forwards. this is great for normal riding but makes switch really difficult. if you are trying to work on switch riding, feet should be pointed outwards on both sides. alot of riders will their angles equal and opposite, i believe kevin has his front at 12degrees and back at -12degrees. if it feels weird having your back foot angled so far you can always start with -6 or similar until you get comfortable with it

I have watched dozens of your videos since getting back on a board after about 6 years! One thing I have noticed is that on some steeper runs, I am pulling up on the front foot and if I look straight down I am basically putting my weight on the rear leg. Regular riding this doesn't seem to be an issue, on the less steep hills at least. Is this unusual? And if so, how do I go about breaking this bad habit?

i dont know a 'tip' to catching your edge safely. there is no way i know to make it easier, but you can control the environment. ie when the snow is soft or you have new snow you can push yourself more. when its hard/ icy be more conservative. practicing a lot at slow speeds and on easy terrain. catching your edge is one of the most painful things, and hard to avoid completely, im pretty sure it happens to everyone, but if your landing in soft snow you can normally get back up straight away,
