This really helps. I have manage to pick a monologue and I'm practicing it. I will also apply these that you said whilst practicing. I was clueless but I've also seeked help from my acting coach who I have been seeing for over a year. Thank you for doing this video. I hope your well and staying safe. x

Ask away. Remember, it's only Shakespeare, so it can't be that longwinded:)

@@TheBritishActingCoach Thanks for the reply! Aha it’s not really about Shakespeare but just auditioning in general for me. I’ve always been someone whose critical of my own work or performances even in music, that’s why I always value 2nd opinions and working with others to help me gauge my ability and where I’m at. I’ve been out of the loop and haven’t really practiced acting in quite a while since I’ve just decided to withdraw from uni this year and because of covid I haven’t been able to practice with anyone; it’s all a bit sudden! The dilemma I have is that I don’t really know what standard my self tape monologues are at or if they’re even good enough to at least get a recall as I haven’t been able to practice them with anyone due to covid, they felt good after I recorded them but now time has passed I really don’t know. I believe I can do better but that’s the problem with my mindset, no matter what I do I always think ‘nah that can be better in this part or here etc.’ and I don’t wanna fall into the trap of trying to go for that golden take that’ll never happen aha. I suppose my question is more of a what advice would you give in my situation. Told you it was a bit long winded aha :) thanks again for the videos, they really help.

@@georgespencer5499 Well... I’ll be honest because I always am and I don’t want to fluff around - you have to believe in yourself and if you’re constantly doubting yourself you just need to stop doing that. You’ll drive yourself mad, you’ll be frustrating to work with and the fact is, yeah maybe you can do shit better but you just have to let it go! Watch my self tape video kzitem.info/news/bejne/r6eBv2ylpXSFoYo You’re overthinking and making it all about you :) if you wanna be a good actor get out of your own head and see how brilliantly you can just get on with it. There is power in knowing you’ve done something well and walking away. You should never care about the outcome, just know that you’ve been truthful to yourself and the story.

Start reading some personal development books and start seeing a therapist (I recommend everyone does this for their own well being), start meditating and exercising. Life is short so doubting yourself all the time is a waste of time :)
