Super insightful tutorial Stazma. I recently got the 258t Osc, which I immediately love. I can completely see you using it for educational purposes too - it’s just such a clear overview of synthesis, the way it’s two oscillators can interact, the way it sounds when you send an envelope into it, the way you hear how a sine morphs into a saw/square, and how because of that you almost don’t need a filter. This video shows me how the quad function generator seems to be the same. It’s fairly affordable too, and it claims big hp space which in the end always is nicer to twiddle then the crowded stuff that easily finds it’s way into racks. Best from Rotterdam

I’ve been looking for a good tutorial/demo of this thing for a long time. The World is a better place because of this.

Hey Stazma, thanks for the great tips. I really should be getting more out of mine. On a separate note, I see you're using the Topbrillo minimix for your end stage. I've been using the Verbos Pan & Scan for a few years now and wondered if you've tried it and, if so, how you might compare them. I'm generally pretty happy with it but can't say I ever actually use the P&S 'sidebar'. Plus, I find that when I'm using all four inputs, I usually get some distortion on either of the end channels. Just wondering if Minimix would be a good replacement.

The quadrature mode will combine the A/B or C/D into something similar to an ADSR (I think its like a ASDR?). I need to play around with these a bit again. I was learning them but got sidetracked when I bought an 0-CTRL to add to the setup when future modules come out but I started playing my Strega again and loving it. hah

It can do it but it's not totally true. It actualy start B at the end of the attack stage of A, depending on the lenght it can make an ADSR like I showed in the first exemple without having to use a mult, but it's not exactly the same.

Thanks a lot for all those great ideas. One question remains for me: Why do you call it OR output? Isn't it A = always max and B = mixed in from 0 to max?
@Stazma

No idea why it's called that way to be honest, probably some boolean logic terminology.

Petite question 🙋♂️, entre le 281T et le make noise Maths , lequel est le plus judicieux pour commencer ?
@Stazma
Жыл бұрын
Pour un petit système le Maths fait plus de chose (mixer / offset / inverter et plein d'autres hehehe) donc ça me parait bien, mais le 281 est plus facile a maitriser et possède plus de canaux de modulation (4 contre deux chez Maths).

It's not an or, it's a blend of the two envelopes
@Stazma

Well it’s called Or on the original so I assumed it is the same on these. And yes it does blend one envelope with another, just not in the same way a mixer would.
