I'm really glad I found this channel. I would like to give you some criticism about this particular video, and as a point of focus for the next ones. Breakthrough of the techniques is amazing. You appear as a professional Motion Designer for sure. So you've done a lot of projects with these different techniques. Why not give the viewer some examples of what you can do with it ? For each different technique you showed, it's just the same "Texture" title with a grid that you play with. As a very beginner in this universe, I didn't get very inspirational after watching your content. I feel like you made all this beautiful stuff but you could have come all the way to show people what they can actually do with it with diversity in the examples shown. It obviously takes more time but I think it increases the viewer's attraction, and therefore, your growth as a video maker. Hopefully I made myself clear. Your cinematic videos are amazing aswell. I'll keep watching your stuff.

Thank you for the constructive feedback. It is much appreciated. You definitely have a valid point! In this particular video I wanted to focus on the techniques so that when you’re in a situation where you want a particular look you have the tools. A problem with some of the other tutorials with specific examples is that people tend to be too caught up in recreating the exact look. I want to be able to teach concepts that you can reapply instead of locking the viewer into only using what’s taught in a specific scenario. With that being said, I definitely think it could’ve benefitted to show 5 examples in which the technique is used! I’m still trying to find that balance between specificity and teaching workflows that can be reapplied in various ways.

This channel is an absolute gem! Been going absolutely crazy with After Effects recently, and this channel's videos have been pivotal! I learned about the Posterise Time, Turbulent Displace, and the loopOut expressions that I'm learning to use and reuse again and again. Amazing stuff!

Amazing video, I'm interested in learning to make texts like the ones you used for each method title, example: 5:55 if anyone have a tutorial or an idea of how could I search for it
@mapal

The text itself is just a simple position animation + a wiggle expression on the text itself. Background is just a looped texture + a shape layer set to stroke and then using the blur and dissolve trick I show in the video

Great video as in every other, i like your way very much. I just have one question, from your perpective what is the best way to use texture in videos? I would love to make my layer of textures in a music video i am editing right now so i look for the right one, for weeks. Thank for your help, greetings from Montenegro.

Thank you! I think when using textures on real world footage it’s about keeping it clean and keeping the style in mind. I usually love some heavy grain and tiny bit of dust particles. If you’re going for something real grungy/edgy some torn paper/rough paper assets can work very well. Just don’t overdo it

@@mapal I was hoping you will answer today, and you did, so i must say, I am really grateful for your help and for being such a down to earth human being, aside having knowledge you have.I appreciate it from the heart! p.s. i was just watching your other vid on this subject, it's not just your knowledge but your taste, and that's what matters, at least for me. Cheers!

So with the third method how would I achieve this without the need for the background? When I use this effect and put it over a video it doesn’t work properly, plus it makes the video all noisy.
@mapal
7 ай бұрын
You can use something like a noise effect or a roughen edges to get a grainy/noise look. That should work better with transparent backgrounds
