Great content. Patience in Halo, just to name a few, is: knowing when you don't have player number advantage and waiting for your teammates before making a play. Not chasing or rechallenging one shots if it puts you in a vulnerable position. Holding power positions with good lines of sight even if you don't see someone immediately. Letting your shield recharge fully. Sometimes Not shooting your gun when behind enemy lines. Controlling the map and living just for a power up/weapon. Timing attacks with camo. Not getting frustrated with bad teammates. Letting them strafe into your reticle. Not making over adjustments. And some other shit. 😅

Thank you skyway! I 1000% want coaching, I’ve played nearly everyday since launch and want to step my game up even more. Been robbed of onyx to many times due to either my bad habits and also well…. game crashing. The game deserves more work from the studio and more love from the fans if they just see the potential this halo can bring to future halos.

So much of this advice towards the end regarding watching pros and pretending you are them, and thinking about their divisions and why is so valuable not only for halo but for learning in general.
@sethfearnow3821
Жыл бұрын
Patience in halo is going for crosses, not kills. Especially objective, but even in slayer, setting up crosses with your teammates to cutoff key lanes instead of pushing to get that 1 extra kill or when you're outnumbered 3 - 1. Takes map awareness, takes coordinated teammates, sometimes takes letting your teammate get the final shot, but when its locked in, its awesome. Obviously a more defensive strategy, so it wont work for everything.

About confidence you’re getting into what separates the good vs the greats : the inner game ! I suggest you go read « the inner game of tennis » by timothy gallwey (or smthg like that), I think he also wrote the « inner game of golf », don’t know which one would fit esports better but in any case it’s worth it. It will teach you how to consciously increase your « in the zone » moments. For anyone considering playing tournaments this is a must IMO, and it’s a great read just because it says so much about how we function as humans.

Shyway, thanks for the amazing content. I wish I had the time and patience to create like this. The only extra things I would add are to practice keeping your hands "loose" while aiming to prevent tense lock, and also try not to pin the right stick all the way to the edge while in a gunfight. To further the intentional point, I keep myself in this zone by only pulling the right trigger when my aim is on the enemy. Duh, right? But no, too many people fall into a rhythm especially with the BR and simply pull in a cadence. Finally breathing is very important. In through nose, out through mouth, and do not stop breathing in a gunfight. Having good posture really helps with this. I try to keep the back of my shoulders touching the chair at all times. Gamer slouch limits oxygen and also causes shoulder/neck fatigue which can keep you out of the flow state. Lucid is a good example. This can take a while to relearn as how you lay your wrists/forearms on your legs will probably change and mess with muscle memory.

I'm a little late to this video but it's great advice! Patience in Halo is comparable to poker IMO. You see it when the pros get ahold of a sniper and get engaged with a BR, it's like having a royal flush and trying to get someone with trips to overplay their hand. The pros don't get flustered, they stay calm and wait for that reticle to flash red when he strafes into it.

As a K&M player this was a weird experience. You mostly talked from a controller perspective, but there were still some good tips that applied to both. I've realized patience is really helpful for aiming. It helps with all the thinking you have been talking about, since you have more time to think if you're patient. Also, if you take your time to aim, you may be more likely to die (especially if the enemy aim is really good) but you are also more likely to hit shots you take. This makes your muscle memory better and helps a lot with precision weapons where you only need to hit a few shots.

What I do to practice right stick aiming is to go the range and solely use the right stick and trigger. I also just follow the targets without shooting with the right stick.I leave the left stick out altogether that’s how I got accustomed to the sensitivity.
@BRADtheDAD33

Honestly just put a custom curve on your controller thumb sticks that cancels out the default. That way you play with a linear curve. For a precision shooter like halo it’s crazy they don’t just let you pick the response curve you want

To get zero acceleration/thresholds. Recon inverted hold to crouch hold to sprint maintain sprint OFF whala 😮. X is zoom toggle and sprint. So you gotta turn maintain sprint off at that point because if you don't you get blurry uncrouched going back and forth 5x to 10x with the scope. 😅

This is why I respect control players compared to mouse. The amount of things you have to practice and master is far harder then simply moving and pointing a mouse on a screen.
