Also, film yourself if you can. What you think you’re doing and what you are actually doing might be 2 different things. Seeing yourself in a video will help you to make the necessary adjustments.

If you exercise by yourself, you can make work with your kicks, and then when you legs are resting, you can work on your blocks and punches etc. Using this method I increase my effective time in Dojo

Great video and fantastic advice, especially the one about be meaningful with your training and think about what to improve with each repitition, I see alot of people just turn up week after week and go through the motions mindlessly following muscle memory without being present in what they are actually doing.

Thank you, yes a lot of the time people train on autopilot and aren't really getting anywhere

Great tips. Homework is handy to prepare for class too. I find daily stretching and some cardio between sessions to be beneficial to my time at class. If I maintain my flexibility and stamina I can more easily focus on what we're learning. Press ups are great too, Sensei loves dishing them out but they don't faze me so I can focus and enjoy the session.

Great tips. So simple really, but it is astounding how many people don't do even one of those things. They really do make a difference, too. Part of my own success is doing those things (granted, I could certainly do with making better notes). I'd say that consistency is one of the main ones, especially at lower ranks. There is a stark difference between someone who trains maybe 2 hours every other week and someone who trains those 2 hours every week. It doesn't even need to be formal classes; spending even 15 minutes on days you can't make classes, just working on something particular, will give results in the long term.

Consistency is probably the most important. People often want some extravagant secrets but it is usually the most simple things done over and over that create success.

4 - questions - although I usually do them, specially when a technique is being done differently in a kata... I can't help to feel bad about it, perhaps the fact that I'm the only one doing the questions has something to do with it..... but I question anyway.

Other people probably have questions but don't ask, and are probably glad you ask because it clears it up for them as well.
