Honestly, the best thing for new builders is to use inspiration photos. There's nothing wrong with finding a photo of a house on google images and trying to recreate it. Once you've done a few you'll have learned a lot of tips about how to make your house look realistic and dynamic.
@FrozenWillow1980

Another tip I like to do for new builder/gamers is this Get the cheats on (ctrl shift c) Put in testingcheats on put in bb.moveobjects on put in bb.showhiddenobjects put in bb.showliveeditobjects In build/buy mode in the little search box up above the left hand side, type in debug and hit enter. Look for EA's lovely debug builds, grab one you like and position it in the lot. Then start drawing walls following the outline of the build adding windows and doors as you go along but don't connect the last wall just yet if it's a multi level build as it will shift the debug house up. Once done, find the debug house and size it down using the [ or ] keys (can't remember which one it is and use it as a reference :)

I think the best tip I can give on building is not to limit your viewership to only a couple sims KZitemrs. different simmers have different styles of building and how they approach building that I have learned a lot from. .I used to only really watch deli and james and my builds all resembled theirs. But now I have branched out a lot more and my builds look much more varied and interesting! (not saying that their styles arent interesting, just that I was able to build different looking houses) taking inspiration form a bunch of sources, even google, is super helpful!
