As a teacher, I find this so interesting. I can see why students' attention spans are getting worse and worse, and there are so many examples. I have students who don't remember something I've said on an exercise about 1 minute after I've said it! Had a suspicion some technologies were behind it, but I had no way of really knowing. I'll definitely buy the book :)

Great information! My grandchildren are at the age they'll be getting phones soon. I'm going to share the information with their parents about leaving the phones out of the bedroom at night. Super advice! Thank you for the video.

Dr Rhonda Patrick just did a really interesting research review on how social media and smart phones impact the developing brain. It's on her KZitem channel too - foundmyfitness

As a 16 year old my advice is a 100% do that. After a few years getting rid of the habit of watching your phone constantly for notifications or messages it becomes really hard stopping doing it. I am actually sick of it even if in that moment it feels good because as he very well explains in the video your focus really gets blown away. I often find it hard to focus to study even if I really want to do that. Now i’m trying to turn it off while I study and I hope it’ll work but after the summer I will be back to the starting point. P.S. Even with all this BS I have no problem not having my phone when I hang out with friends or do some fun stuff, in fact I often forget about it which is great! I hope you forward this comment to your grandchildren’s parents, I think it will be helpful. Oh and last thing: do NOT let them watch youtube at the table otherwise it becomes just another habit that “excludes” them from what is going on around them. Sorry if my English was bad but I’m not a native speaker.

Literally all of this was debunked a decade ago, and he even sites some of that work, and contradicts himself. Do you guys not believe in the scientific method, or peer reviews?
