0:00 - Intro
BAD:
0:33 - The third row
This is the big story here, the CX90 is the new generation of Mazda, and it debuts with their 3 row SUV, the biggest and the flagship….but it’s still Mazda, which means…tight
The third row can be had in a 2 or 3 seat configuration…which is very generous to say you could fit 3 people back here
You COULD fit 2 of me back there assuming we could each put out foot in the aisle
But really the third row is VERY much reserved for small children…get my point
But you do get some nice stuff back here like vents, USB-c and a couple cupholders
1:16 - Driver assist
This is another place that Mazda has never really historically been at the fore front…and that remains true with the new CX90
2:05 - EV mode
This one is a two parter
First, is the number of EV miles you see on the dash isn’t exactly the number of EV miles you’ll get - interestingly it seemed more accurate on the highway…maybe due to some lift and coast
And two, even in EV mode the car feels a little jumpy and like the Ev power is going through the transmission…because it is
2:45 - Price
This, like the driver assist point, is also just kind of a Mazda staple - it’s more expensive than a lot of its competitors - but it should be
It’s more luxurious, powerful, AND advanced than really any of the usual competition like the Highlander, Pilot, or the palisade and telluride twins - plus none of those offer a PHEV model, shoot the highlander is the only one to even offer a normal hybrid
The CX90 starts at over 47k for the PHEV here - it’s about 40 for the straight 6, but if you want the big power you’ll still pay over 50k
3:23 - Nitpicks
And then finally there are just a couple nitpicks or small things that aren’t ideal
Infotainment is only touch in ACP
Digital cluster isnt super customizable
Trunk is ok sized, no underfloor storage
Second row has HUGE hump & silly cupholder thing
Center console is enormous for no reason
Climate heat toggle
No fun ambient light
Flimsy front ceiling
Trunk isnt that big

GOOD:
4:26 - The PHEV
Like I mentioned before, you’re not getting a PHEV from any other 3 row competitor in this segment - so from the jump you have an exclusive thing here
And it’s pretty awesome
You get about 26ish miles of full electric range, which is enough to get most people to and from work
The electric motor is integrated between the engine and transmission and then goes to all 4 wheels
We’re talking about 323 hp and 369 lbft of torque so this thing is NOT slow
And then there’s charge target which will charge the car while you drive to a certain percent
6:00 - The looks
Another thing in typical Mazda fashion, this thing LOOKS great!
I love this color and this spec, it’s SO handsome…and you could be too
6:47 - The drive
Again, in typical Mazda fashion, this thing drives really well
This and the Honda Pilot are teh best driving vehicles in this segment currently
7:39 - Interior design
And im going to sound like a broken record again, but the interior is VERY typical Mazda, and what i mean by that is a REALLY elegant design with higher end materials than you’re seeing anywhere else
It’s another classically gorgeous mazda interior and you can get it in white…which you already know is how i’d get mine
8:42 - Towing
The CX90 also has a pretty healthy towing figure at 5000 lbs
8:49 - Tech
YAnno what else is luxurious? Tech features that make your life easier
Things like wireless acp and aa
A mazda first full digital cluster
Another mazda first digital rear view mirror
And big 12 inch infotainment system
Weirdly it’s only touchscreen in ACP
360 cameras that even stay on as you pull away…nice!
9:42 - Lux stuff
This CX90 doesn’t just LOOK nicer than everything else, it’s got the features to back it up
Heated and cooled seats
Heated steering wheel
Heated and cooled rear seats available
Pano roof
Plus other things like handsfree tailgate, etc
10:06 - 2nd Row
And while the 3rd row isn’t exactly palatial, the 2nd row is quite nice
The seats slide and recline
They get out of the way manually and quickly
They’re heated and can be cooled
They get shades
They get their own climate zone and vents
But yanno what’s weird, there’s no cupholders on the back of the front center console
So mazda made this cheap little fast food takeout tray with a couple cupholders on it
