Drain the fuel out and add fresh fuel to aid starting. Petrol goes off after about a year. Or you can get some additives to preserve it.

I've owned three Series 3's over the past 25 years. They are not cars. They are spoiled mistresses! If you leave them alone for a long time, don't pamper and spoil them, they will get even! They will make you pay for your ignoring these princesses! But alas, they are beautiful, and I fall for their allure every time ( Hope my Wife never reads this!).

It deserves a full restoration and values are going up so it should be worth doing before it deteriorates any further. Great first car to have owned.

I agree I really want to restore it. It's the usual story of finding the time and money.

Great to see another series 2 xj. Make sure you re connect correct fuel lines with fuel pumps. You dont want a fuel fire with 40 year old washer pipes👨🚒

@@jonwattracing2455 Ditto that. Love S2's - reminds me of my late father's OPB373R...BRG with tan interior, sadly, like him no longer with us but your video brings back some great memories...ahhh that interior. I have an XK Convertible (V8 4.2) the old man would have loved !

The fuel pumps are located in the boot to the rear of the spare wheel! You were looking at the fuel sender behind the panel in the guard!

On earlier XJ6's you are indeed correct, the pumps are located behind the spare wheel. Midway through the production of the series 2 car's around 1976 I believe, they changed to a combined in-tank fuel pump/sender unit, one in each tank. I have changed the fuel pumps years ago, when I had the car on the road, and this is where they are on this car.

@@jonwattracing2455 You are off course right I stand corrected. I was under the impression the the move to in the tank didn’t come about until the series 3 and injection.

the fuel pumps need both a positive and a negative feed thats why a direct feed did not work the plastic shrouded tab is the positive try that
