I have close to some of these a couple of times. Worst was with an 600 Komatsu in a rock pit bailing pit run,, undermined the tracks and just moved in time. That was a lesson that I never forgot and pass on every time I can.

@TruthinFilm if you look at the lower left you can see the tire marks, story has it the bank gave way and it and it rolled several times before landing that way. still seems like it should be flipped on the other side if that was the case?

Nice song, interesting video, lets face it accidents do happen even to the best, looking at some of those pictures it makes you wonder how the operator got out the cab, machinery can be replaced or repaired, lets hope no one got hurt.

One of the problems of a tracked machine is that it can be difficult to judge the weight bearing capacity of the land you are working over. There can be a sort of crust which more or less suddenly subsides under you. So I agree with the comments that it is not necessarily operator error, that gets a machine into trouble.

I worked in some extremely nasty places clearing land behind loggers for a local paper mill. If you so much as spun the tracks for only a few seconds you would get buried. I’ve never gotten a dozer stuck that bad even in what we called rotten mud in southern Illinois and southeastern Missouri. Some people just don’t have the common sense to know when they have to quit trying to get unstuck by themselves.

In the 68 Riverside Ca flood ,a sand company left its drag line on the dry river bottom just the other side of the bridge. It only took a couple of hours and the only thing visable ever seen again was about about three ft of the boom sticking up out of the sand. A couple years after that at the same site the op got off his loader walked around back, rolled back & end of operator. After that on a rented D6 w/rop a man forgot to buckle up, end of operator.. 53. I loaded the wrong dozer 54

I'd say this video is more proof that when it comes to working in wet areas that you need a different kind of skill than the normal operator, and that most operators can't adapt to the wetland work

9 times out of 10 where dozers and track hoes are is the first time anything has ever been there so any bit of rain makes it wet and thats why there out there trying to drain the land and what not. Theres a dozer a few miles from my house they left in the mud couldnt get it out so they left it there and insurance paid it off all you can see is the canopy. And yesterday someone lost a trackhoe on I-40 up towards Raleigh that would be a nice addition to this slideshow

all I hope is that all those drive/operators lived and if they got hurt, then I hope they got better. man there were some weird ones, like that "skid-steer" in the shallow water on it's side, I hope there wasn't an operator in it. I hope it just like slipped off a barge that had a Crain or a dredger on it and he was swing the bucket and...oops hit it in. Because I know, that you know, that you have to be harnessed in in order to operate that machine, and if there was someone in it, then I hope that they had the presence of mind to "stay cool, lift up the mechanism and climb out.

We once watched a guy single handedly sink his truck, 2 backhoes, a bulldozer and a trencher in mud so deep they had to come back later with a huge crane to pull them out. Meanwhile the backhoe's were close enough, we learned to hotwire them and had bucket battles
