In my country, at least 10GB models are at good price. Original NVIDIA MSRP for 3080 is 19000 CZK (icluding 21% VAT), at biggest, not cheapest store you can buy few models at 34000 CZK, EVGA with 850W Gold PSU at 34500 CZK (PSU itself is 3000CZK) and some smaller shops offers even better prices. So Yes, still far away from MSRP, but... even at fall 2020 you was unable buy cheaper one than 22000-25000 CZK, so it is about 50% more... Year ago you was unable find one at stock and if you was very lucky, then those was for 55000 CZK. I personally wainting for better price. Will likely buy when price will drop below 25000 CZK

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to upgrade to 3080/6800xt level of performance, but if you have something that can run 1440p well or 1080p very well now, then try to reduce expectations and slowly move from high to medium to maybe a couple low settings and you'll be fine for those 2 years. It's also much quieter now, even with the more aggressive fan curves I previously set. From my limited usage of FSR and RT, don't bother. FSR creates fuzzy edges and weird fringing. RT does look a bit nicer, but that's pointless if the wildly inconsistent frametimes give you nausea. Using them together is overall worse than with both turned off. Something my friend noticed when switching from 3080 (that died.. memory temps above 100 guys, remember about those..) to 6900xt is that with Radeon you get a lot of things you'd normally need 3rd party programs in a handy drivers panel saving you the hassle aswell as giving you the control over your GPU without making it feel like an unnecessarily complicated operation. I think that's an underrated reasoning. Nvidia is really long overdue on catching up to AMD in terms of reworking the drivers panel.

I guess that if you are VERY CUDA Core dependant with certain apps or want some features that Radeon doesn't have, you should go for the 3080, otherwise if they are at same price the 6900XT looks better, mostly thanks to the name scheme too it will help retain the value a bit more when reselling it later down the line. Also 150 to 200$ more for the 3080 instead of the 6900XT because you want Nvenc for OBS streaming is not worth it since you can put that up on a CPU upgrade, and since most users for these cards will use top tier parts too, makes no sense anyways, so the 200$ can help lots on peripherals or even getting a good chair or desk.
@rinrin4711
2 жыл бұрын
The problem is that radeon lacks a lot of quality of life features which 3080 has. RTX 3080 has DLSS and that is already huge deal in many titles and a great future-proofing feature, I'd pay extra just for that. Aside from that, ray tracing can give an extremely immersive experience in some games which I would not want to miss out on, even if it is 2-3 games.
@OlaJustin
2 жыл бұрын
If you cant afford a good chair or desk, you really shouldnt be thinking about buying any of these GPUs. The 3080 12 GB is a way more versitile GPU and should hold its value more. And it says Nvidia on the box. Thinking that you are spending $2500-$3000 on a new system, $200 bucks is less than 10 % of the overall cost. For that you get worse 1080p gaming but better everything else. I just cant see AMD competing at the same price. And that makes me sad, not happy. Still, the 6900 XT is a beast of a GPU. I just feel like AMD has fallen far behind on features, both in gaming and in creational apps like Blender. There is hope though since Apple's M1 chips has companies scrambling for something more universal than CUDA! 👌

Most gamers would use the newer AMD optional driver currently 22.2.2, not the 'recommended' 21.10.2 driver use in the review . The optional driver has performance improvements. The AMD optional driver is equivalent of the Nvidia Game Ready Driver. The Nvidia GRD is about the same age as the AMD optional driver. This kind of invalidates the results as you are comparing a full WHQL AMD driver with the Nvidia equivalent of the optional driver. Nvidia call their full WHQL driver a studio driver. Seen as the 3080 ti only costs slightly more of that than the rtx 3080 why bother just get the Ti one. The 3080 is silly money when it costs the same as the Ti.

Thank you for the comprehensive and fair test! For those who don't know, there is another 10-15% to be gained with the latest water cooled XTXH chipped 6900XT models out there, just as there is with the RTX 3090, depending on the overclock or not. My overclocked 6900XT and my Overclocked 3080Ti both hit around 22,000 on the Time Spy GPU score, without modding the BIOS power limits in MPT. Also, on older drivers last summer my 6900XT was only hitting about 18,500 on Time Spy, so the newer drivers have made a difference over time. PS: My 6900XT is drawing 303W vs 439W on the 3080 Ti during benchmarks. Both are great cards - I use the 3080Ti in my 4K rig and the 6900XT in my 1440p rig, because if 4K is too demanding I can turn on DLSS.

My 6900xt xtxh Sapphire toxic Extreme Stock with just raised 2606mhz to 2750mhz does 24200 timespy. And with mpt and higher watt limit and from 1.2v core to 1.287v core it does 25799 for everyday gaming. And in gaming only draw around 360-420w like 3090ti ✌️
@LarryGanz

@@nordskov55 Yeah, the Sapphire Toxic is definitely a better performer than the nitro plus due to the higher binned chips. But unlike you, I did not modify my power limits so that my bedroom would stay cool when I’m gaming, since the performance matches my 3080 TI with only 2/3 of the power. I have not messed with my overclocking or benchmarks since December 20 21, so I wonder if the performance continues to improve on the older cards with the newest drivers. There was a big increase in performance over last summer with the new drivers.

@@LarryGanz i havent was mostly for testing. For everyday use i stay Stock just with 2750mhz boost vs 2606mhz Stock and thats enough for 24200 timespy ✌️. If driver Continue to boost performance like this a new generation Cards is not needed lol.

@@nordskov55 Yep, and you’re still within that 10% to 15% improvement with the higher binned 6900XT cards that I was talking about before, stock or with modified power limits. My card runs closer to 2400-2500 MHz with VRAM at 2124 MHz, at 303W and 1165 Mv.

@@nordskov55 I decided to test bumping the Sapphire Nitro+ power limit to 380W with MPT, and I could only get to 2554 MHz (about 50 Mhz climb) with a Time Spy GPU = 22243. But temps climbed from 71 degrees to 78-80 degrees, for 1% gain in performance. So, without repasting I think that I'm at the OG card's limit. The newer XTXH cards are better.

21.10.2 drivers for the AMD benchmarks? Why not 22.2.2? :sigh:

Happy with 6900xt. I believe the reason the 6900xt falls short in 4k is the power cap. Had a friend's pc that has a 3090 and did some benchmarks and noticed that the 3090 used around 420 to 450 watts during basic benchmarks like 3dmark, heaven, superposition. So I decided to do a test with more power tool and cap the power limit at 400 watts vs 320 the 6900xt has and boy did my scores shoot up drastically. Give the 6900xt the same power as the 3090/3080 bet you these charts would like different

I traded recently my 3080 10gb for a 6900xt reference and I only play at 4k. I can say the 6900xt is faster in every game i'm playing and tested on my PC. And I have way more VRAM. So i have no regret for the trade.

@@gunzorkgaming7847 really? Im doubting between rtx 3080 ti and 6900 xt. Im afraid about amds shitty unstable drivers. Ive always had nvidia gpus. I dont care about raytracing. So if the 6900 xt is much much faster atleast 10 fps faster than I would buy it. I can buy one for 999 euros. At retail price. The 3080 ti also at retail price for 1200 euro.

@@daddyalpha2648 I traded the 6900xt for the 3080 and sold the 3080 for a 3080ti lmao.. I'm good now. But honestly the 6900xt is a beast too but I play a lot of Forza Horizon 5 and was having stuttering issue and some random frame drop that I never have with Nvidia.. That's why I traded back the 6900xt but it is fast when it work and without ray tracing of course.

Steve ❤️, thanks for making the benchmark text large, it really helps watching on the phone. Also thank you for not showing Max FPS. People really only care about 0.1% lows and average frame rate. I have a 4k monitor and I want it to be a constant 98 frames per second for my HDR mode. I only own a RTX 2060, so League of Legends is basically the only title or so forth like that I can do that. So it looks like it's going to take a couple of generations until a reasonably priced GPU, can do 4K, 98 FPS, at 0.1% low. ❤️👍

Why would you put a Founders 6900XT vs a Partner 3080? We already knew the 6900XT was on par kinda with the 3090, the 12GB 3080 wouldn't be in my mind, I'd take 6900XT all day long, RTX is a gimmick until it doesn't kill performance and DLSS is foul, as I found out on my 3090...

I'm curious to see how these two compare with a 12900k, since the ATi is hardware scheduling whereas the nVidia is software (scheduling on the CPU) the higher throughput per core on the 12900k should allow the nVidia to stretch it's legs more in theory?

I paid $999+tax for a 6900 XT from the AMD store and at the time had massive buyers' remorse. 6 months later and seeing the prices still FAR above that and nothing still available I enjoy the performance boost from my GTX 1080. Fiance got the 1080 and we sold her 1060 6 GB for $250 USD (MSRP basically). Upgrading for 2.5x performance, for $750, is great in this gen.

@Sunkeny 10 series 1080ti was 700+. Considering a 6900 XT is multiple times faster for 250 more, it's not a bad deal. Paying scalped prices is not worth it though.

Your Metro Exodus EE analysis doesn't really make sense. The game is available on all three current generation consoles, including the Series S, and offers ray tracing on all of them. The fact that it can do that at all shows how well they have optimized the game for RDNA2. That it doesn't run that well on PC is entirely on AMD's poor ray tracing performance wrt Nvidia, not to mention the subpar drivers.

6900 XT is considerably cheaper in my region than 3080 and for me that would be a no brainer buy, BUT the prices are still too high, and new generation is right around the corner so i will wait them out. Surprisingly 6600 XT that was supposed to be a gap holder is doing more than fine in 1440p so I don't feel any urge to jump into costs right now. By the way, after the 1.5 patch of Cyberpunk i got 9 FPS avg more than on 1.4. (even more on 1% low). That was the only game that run below 60 FPS i played, now it is not the case anymore.
