Don't forget about cows, they suffer the same things elephants do too. Especially if the farm is all hard ground without any outside and the hoofs not only hitting the hard ground with normal walking, but also their version of a toe stub. All farm animals can also get stuff stuck in their feet too, not only rocks, but also screws, nails, and points of metal spiked objects.

So far as animals inventing new languages go, you need look no further than the domestic cat. The "meow" we're all so used to hearing isn't used beyond kittenhood in wild felines. I honestly like to see a vid on pandas as they need to be in captivity to survive since they are becoming endangered but on the other hand captivity is causing some problems for them as well (honestly a easy solution to this is just make large bamboo forests I don’t know if pandas need a specific type of bamboo but there is fast growing bamboo making it pretty easy to get a full forest grown in a matter of weeks from what I’ve found pandas have the same problem as elephants and many other animals they need space)
@BigShrimpin_
Жыл бұрын
"Just grow a bamboo forest" is not an easy solution. A) It needs to be a native kind of bamboo B) Where do you get the bamboo from in such large quantities, without potentially harming other bamboo populations C) Where do you plant these bamboo forests without destroying a different environment D) Similar to the previous, what happens to the animals that can't live in this bamboo forest E) How is the forest meant to be regulated
@kaitracksmalgom
Жыл бұрын
@@BigShrimpin_ ok yeah it did cross my mind whether or not it would work with the bamboo I was thinking off and in terms of planting forests just replant where its been previously as most of that has been destroyed by people and they could make the forest a nature reserve for the animals but yeah i guess getting a forest to grow quickly is a bit farfetched and yes very difficult
@BigShrimpin_
Жыл бұрын
@@kaitracksmalgom In theory yes, but in practice it doesn't work. If you're replanting what has previously been destroyed, you have to realise *why* it was destroyed in the first place. Most likely there is farmland/housing/industry or some other development on that land. To replant the forest, that development needs to be moved, but to move it somewhere else, some other habitat must be destroyed to make space. Conservation and repopulation is complex :/

Exercise tip for elephants: Dog racing track, but with a giant peanut, instead of the rabbit. Not only would the elephants get exercise and entertainment from it, plus a giant peanut at the end, but it would entertain anyone who saw it. Realistically, perhaps a bag of peanuts, instead of a single, giant one. The issue with animals in captivity is complex, and too many have a simplistic view of it. The most annoying thing is when life in the wild is portrayed as idyllic and harmonious; anyone believing so should be dropped naked into the wilderness. However, exaggerations of all sorts are wrong. There are all sorts of conditions, both in captivity and in the wild, and benefits and harms from both, even for animals. The big indicator is longevity. When animals live shorter in captivity, that's a very strong indication that something is wrong. Either the conditions must be changed drastically, or captivity must be ended. For animals with huge ranges, providing adequate conditions can be economically impossible. It's not as simple as that, though; some animals, especially predators, have evolved to minimize their activity. While hyenas require large areas, even in captivity, they don't require anything close to what they have in the wild, because, when food is plentiful, they instinctively reduce their activity. As a result, many predators live long and healthy lives in captivity, even within pragmatically achievable economic limits. Of course, I'm not talking about cages, here, but enclosures of several acres, at least, and, even then, I'm not talking about elephants.

change out the flooring with different mediums every five weeks or so, clay, then pumice, then gravel, then sand, then woodchips, and the zoos can sell off the used elephant floor-mediums to organics-plants after each use to offset costs; let their feet get pmmiced sanded and soothed.

Animals should never be locked up for the purpose of entertainment for humans. Every single thing that humans put their noses in that has to do with wild animals, ends up being detrimental for the animals.

Animals should be free. We should learn about them in their natural environment.

As someone who has kept and bred parrots in captivity for over 20 years I don't know what to tell you other than people who mistreat animals should be buried up to their necks and a lawnmower started... as far as my sweet feathered housemates I love them and do everything I can to keep them happy and healthy and if that's not good enough then IDK kick rocks...

You would think captivity facilities would have a much larger space. Or have multiple levels of captivity for the animals. This is more possible with animals that aren't heavy or require water to inhavit.

This is why putting animals behind artificial walls and enclosures is a stupid idea and always has been. Unless an animal truly needs to be rescued they should be left to their own devices in their own environment. Its why I hate people who have pet birds, a creature capable of flight does not belong in someones house or apartment its ludicrous.

During my childhood, i had many pets, but my father never allowed me to have any kind of bird for the same reason you mentioned. Greetings from Croatia.
