In the 80s my dad was an industrial painter. He painted farm equipment. A few times he snuck in a car for side hustle money 😂 as long as they wanted their car to be red 😂

Came out really good. That coverage was great for red. I just touched up a few things on my car in red. I Needed at least 3 coats before it even looked like getting coverage.

I’ve always found 3 coats of primer, color and clear to be best. Anytime I cut corners I regretted it

I've used it on 3 tractors for my dad ...just sprayed it but didn't add the hardner . It looked good for couple years but it fades when in sun daily . A clear coat on it would probably help but even new tractors fade after few years

💯 I’ve got several projects I’ve painted with Rustoleum then SMR-42. They stay outside 24/7/365 and no issues after 3+ years. They look like the day I painted them.

honestly Majic is a very nice paint, and applying a clear over it deepens the shine of it, I actually used Majic's white tractor paint on my 1986 c10's rims and they're still bright white and shiny after nearly 10 years, they are actually a very quality tough enamel paint, and id trust it to last longer than a cheap Base/clear system. infact it has lasted longer than the OMNI system i used on my C10

I've used their rattlecan paint and it wasn't bad. Had better luck than I did with rustoleum.

I’ve done many projects like this with SMR-42. Everyone sleeps on this clear 🤷♂️ I throw in all sorts of pearls because it helps to make it pop and hides the dirt 🤫

@@krisf29 yea it's a good paint for little odds and ends crap . However if you just doing black , you should really check out speedokote trc15 which is a moisture cure 1 part product that lasts way longer than this stuff . And more durable against chipping and damage

I always harassed you to spray rustoleum. You did great with it when you dod the celica. But the magic enamel actually has an oil based enamel hardener that work good. I've sprayed motorcycle tanks with that stuff, then just spray max 2k clear over it. It holds up!

I got sata jet 4400 and a binks trophy i sprayed some cerakote and speedokote ready spray basecoat clear and kbs diamonf coat .i think its more of a paint thing rather than the gun

Man, I’m sorry you used that stuff 😢, have experience with it, it didn’t seem to mater if you added activator or not but in about 6 months it would dull and fade to the point it looked like it’s been sitting outside for 15 years, I will agree though that it does flow out nice, still a really good finish!👍

I use Acme Finish 1 (med) hardener and had fantastic results every time! I also use SpeedoKote reducer and SMR-42 clear. Have to wait 12 hours between color& clear though. Or More than 24 hours then a quick scuff with a red scotch bright.
