Got a 2004 model with a genuine 9500 miles. Still feels new.

Out of curiosity, do most cars have automatically adjusting valves? And why aren’t they used more often on bikes? My Vespa 125cc had to have the valve clearances checked at 620 miles - but I’ve never heard of someone having the same work done to a car?

Cars have hydronic lifters, which self adjust under the oil pressure. The disadvantage of these is at higher rpms, which bike engine as a whole Rev higher, they are heavier, which can cause valve issues like bouncing also they can slightly depress at higher loads changing lift/duration.
