I have helped employees get theirs. The biggest thing to remember is take things one section at a time and once you start on a path stay on it. So once you start on tires, stay on tires until you have said everything about them, then move to the wheels, lug nuts, hub and then valve stem. I do that in a circular pattern and just keep spiraling in, so I found my path and stayed on it. If you look across at the inner sidewall and see the shocks and start the three components of suspension you are going to forget something with the tires. Same goes for everything once you are on brakes, stay on brakes until you are done. I go to brakes right after tires because you look through the holes in the wheels to see your rotors, so rotors, pads, (or drums and shoes), brake chambers (slack adjusters, if they are external, don't forget the clevis and cotter pins on those) brake lines and air tanks. Now I am back there so I go to suspension, shocks, airbags and torsion rod, hangers and then the frame. I do the steering components before I start on the tire and I make sure my wheels are turned before I start so I can see everything. Get a flow, I used 'not cracked, bent or damaged and properly secured' on almost everything, then you can add, properly tied back on things like brake lines or not leaking on things like coolant lines. Read your engine compartment like a book, start with door and hinges as you open it then start at the top left corner and work your way to the right one line of the book at a time and touch everything, that way you won't forget anything, don't take your hand off of it until you are done. The P portion of the test is fairly easy. Start at the step well, tiles, handrails, lights working, no slip or trip hazards, move up into the coach, look down the isle, same thing, no slip or trip hazards, tiles are secure and in good condition, handholds are secure. I start at the top of the seat, seat back secure, seat cushion secure, seat belt not cut, or damaged, retracts properly and fastens securely. Seat is properly secured to the floor and the frame is not cracked, bent or damaged and all hardware is in place. Emergency exit windows, roof hatches and the air release on the front door are all working properly and property labeled, and the buzzers are working (if it is equipped with buzzers). I also have my students mention that the lavatory door latches securely to prevent passenger falls and we check that our monitors are secure to prevent passenger injury. Remember repeat every instruction back the instructor to make sure you understand what the want you to inspect next. They can't give you any clues or hints, it's illegal.

@@aceexpressgolden3994 thanks... I failed my test 2 weeks ago because she said tell me about the front axle. I didn't say anything about brakes.. Then I totally spaced out on the engine..
