Bud, that's one of the best setups and videos I've ever seen. A wind sculpture that produces power... That's what I'm talking about! Not one but FOUR, did it yourself, straightforward materials, affordable...you even told us how much it produced! That's how it's done! Great vid.

Wow great job and cool video!!! If those puppies had a homemade alternator direct drive under each sized to take mega winds you could let them play in the wind while your romantically watch form your bedroom...

Excelente contrucion!

would love to see how you hooked tthese up to a altenator or generator to power home storage system . i seen something like this in use that was more effective than "prop blades" for harnesing the wind power . fantastic vid , thanks

more effective than "prop blades"? - depends on how you measure! My barrels push as much wind as they grab - fastest I have ever measured = is around 480 (memory) I do make electricity in a wind storm - just nothing to brag about

They should put closer to each(for give power each other) and turn every 2 the opposite way ,upside down. Nylon foil material would better lower weight

Looks like there may be some strong vibration at high speed unless you have a plan to balance these to a high degree of precision. They could actually shake themselves to pieces.

I have tried to static balance them by adding wodden blocks - but the TRUTH - around 25 mph it looks pretty wobbly - over 30 mph I just tie them off

Be far more meaningful if you can provide the power output at various wind / rotational speeds

They all rotate around 11 ph wind - at 18 mph wind the electronics light up - at >20 mph I am in a positive charge mode

@@PonderingConfusion do you know what sort of power output each one is capable of? I like the concept, reuse of the drums is a good idea, do you think it would possible using maybe 1/3 of a drum for each blade?

@@ianbottom7396 What sort of power output each one is capable of? Answer - WindBlue Power DC-520 Permanent Magnet Alternator I do not have a specific answer - most of the time it is just a wind sculpture But on those nasty days - I wake up to a healthy charge for my small system (just a cabin) As for design - I based everything I did with information from: Wind tunnel testing and numerical simulation on aerodynamic performance of a three-bladed Savonius wind turbine December 2013 International Journal of Energy and Environmental Engineering 4(1) DOI:10.1186/2251-6832-4-18

Do not give credit to your prototype, but rather to the strong wind. Had rhis been propeller blades the rpm will much faster. People do not see this because the wind is exceptionally strong. Once it is of typical wind velocity then they will notice how slow ur vertical wibd turbines is
@PonderingConfusion

Correct - the fastest I have ever measured = 620 rpm but at an 8:1 gear ratio I do make electricity at these speeds. However - it has to be a really windy / stormy day - I have woke up to a full charge
@PonderingConfusion
2 жыл бұрын
You are correct - propeller blade do generate much faster speeds However - traitional wind turbins are very noisy - loud even - I can hear them at night from two of my neighbors The only noise you hear from my turbins (today) s from the leather belts driving the generator
