National is privately owned. It's the Best rental company in the world, great customer service as well. I've seen ppl renting cars from: Payless, Budget, Thrifty or god forbids FOX, and that is exactly what you get worthless service. When I fly to Denver CO and is freaking cold outside you see ppl waiting for up to 45 minutes for a shuttle bus to the rental companies including Avis or Hertz. National shuttle is available 24-7 they run every 6 minutes depending on the time, they also own ENTERPRISE, and ALAMO.

So when you say 34x points - you mean staying at hinton with the aspire card! Nice

Appreciate your "real" take on your valuation! Not everyone will get "$1k" in value for the FNC by going to the Maldives

100% agreed - it'd be awesome yet sometimes it's OK if a credit card isn't optimal for one's spending/lifestyle :)

The airline credit was updated. You don't have to pre-select an airline, and it is not just limited to "incident" fees.

That's the thing - I called Amex on this to get this clarity and unfortunately that not the case - it works just like the Amex Platinum, is except it'd be $50 each year quarter versus the $200 annual lumpsum

LK - I always appreciate you commenting because you've pointed out something so obvious yet I trusted the Amex representative, even though we know there are always conflicting data points of the 'truth'/'what is correct' when it comes to how these credits are to be used/how they're to be redeemed. After re-reaching out and otherwise, I've edited out this portion of the video as it was incorrect - I knew I wasn't reading the info page incorrectly yet blindly followed Amex's customer service info. Thanks again LK - you've saved a lot, a lot of people confusion I am sure and helped me immensely as I do not take it lightly per incorrect info being out there publicly online - especially when it comes to financial matters

A very realistic critique of the Aspire card👍🏾 I have experimented with the Aspire card, and can tell you that "domestically" the Diamond status doesn't confer much beyond the Gold other than points. Having to ask for and/or negotiate late checkout doesn't help. It still may be worth keeping since I travel internationally 2-3 time/yr. Jury is still out for now. Great perspective!

100% agree with you - I say that, frankly, if you even break even on the annual fee (all else equal, i.e., not changing spending habits) then it may be a great card to hold on to in general, even if heavy spend isn't being incurred. One of my most obvious mistakes in retrospect, was me canceling the SPG business card (would've been a Marriott card now after Marriott acquired them) because I didn't see the point of spending $99 annual fee for the free anniversary night it provided every year. I thought, 'if I'm spending the same amount for the room rate and getting no other benefit, why even keep the card?' Fast forward, I didn't realize how not easy/non-optimal credit card strategy it is to cancel and then re-apply if I wanted it again in the future. In essence, I really didn't know the value of a keeper card and one that would provide value not just for me personally but the value for a future family/group travel situations, etc etc 😅 Appreciate you watching and sharing Nubian 😊😁

Most definitely - the Hilton Aspire can be an extremely valuable card, especially if it works for your spend/lifestyle - and supremely appreciate it and the support as always! :)

I love the video! And I love love love my aspire card. Resort credit sucks! And flight credit sucks too, now they are divided into quarterly. Ugh. But even if they give no credits to offset the annual fee, I will still keep my Aspire just for the annual free night certificate. Matter fact, I love it so much I am planning on upgrading my Surpass to Aspire. Bit too much I know. But It works for me because I am a heavy Hilton spender. (Along with Hyatt) Plan on getting my Hyatt Globalist next year and staying on these two brands all year long. I also do have a Brilliant card but lately, Marriott pissed me off with their inconsistencies throughout their properties. Ugh!

Haha mann, I totally feel you and know where you're coming from 100% - if you upgrade your Surpass to Aspire, I assume you'd have 2 Aspires?

@@LalitDevraj Yes sir! And Im trying to figure out if I want another Brilliant too. From what I hear, you have to get Bonvoy Bevy and eventually ask for an upgrade. Not sure If I really want Bevy but will see. Not that I ever had any status with Delta, United or AA, I hear that chasing status with them is really no use. (unless you are super big business spender with them) So I decided at least for Amex, I go all in with hotel status/free night. It works for me. Btw, Since I started this point game during covid, I finally took first class transcon flight with AA. From San francisoc to NYC. Called Flagship first class. I heard they are going away in 2024 so I tried with my wife. Super dope! Oh how I love these points and miles!! lol How have you been? Keep the videos coming Lalit!

The Aspire is not for people who book $150 rooms and only one night. The card works for Conrad/Waldorf people who value a night at $400. We’re using 3 free night credits (1 Aspire, 2 with Surpass, 1 95K points) for four nights at Conrad Tokyo. Tremendous value because the Diamond will also get a huge upgrade to a great suite. However, we don’t do that kind of trip regularly, so we won’t be renewing for that reason. The Surpass is a better card for most.

I disagree. This card works just as well for $150 rooms. I wouldn't use the FNC for a $150 room of course.

Great video. I would totally get this card if they made the $400 resort credit into $400 Hilton credit like the $200 credit from its baby brother. I don't stay at resorts often. I still may consider it in the future though.

100% agree with you - if they made it a general Hilton credit like the Surpass like you said, with even $100 a quarter, that would be awesome

Out of curiosity… why are you reviewing a premium hotel credit card from a 1st person perspective when you yourself don’t travel enough to utilize the benefits? Wouldn’t it make more sense to review this card for someone who travels much more often and/or prefers to stay at hilton properties?
@LalitDevraj

I actually appreciate you asking versus not :) I used to have the Hilton Aspire, then downgraded it to the no annual fee option, and then was considering upgrading to it again with the refresh/revamp - the quick answer, as someone who used to stay at Hiltons weekly for work and using the Hilton Aspire, or even someone who stays at Hilton 'just enough', I say this card would definitely make sense at a high level (especially if you have no other overlapping travel credits provided by other credit cards)

The card has a great sign up bonus that’s worth more than annual fee. Combine that with the free night certificate and it’s worth it for one year.

The 34x and sometimes higher when they do a 2x base bonus makes this card elite. I haven't found a better value when you factor in this diamond status multiplier.

I think using the breakeven analysis framework I used and on plugging in your numbers will definitely help yet simply put, if you're getting value from both individually and value from both, after the overlapping benefits, then why not I would say haha No right answer, if it works for you, it works :) For me, I wouldn't mind both if the value made sense for the Aspire from this video, yet since it'd be a reach/more thought day to day, I'm choosing not to for now (have both Plat and Aspire)
