Lol how much did that bill come to? IMO the 17-19 that still had the 6 speed is the sweet spot with these newer Fords, if you must. Pre-Covid and pre-10 speed but still has the newer aluminum body. Could probably find one of those used in nice shape. A 550 with a hauler bed on it.

It wasn't as much as I thought. It was right around $1300. Still seems to me that it's something that shouldn't happen at 120k. Very irritating. I'm just going to step to the semi when the time comes.

@@alltruckedup2024 there you go. Then you could have Shipshe build you an air brake trailer with big 20k air ride axles and all the lights they can put on it.

Well, even if I have the semi, I still only want to haul the RVs. They are light and pickup and drop off is so hassle free. Given that, an air ride trailer with 20k axles would be way more than I would ever need. I don't even come close to my max capacity for the trailer as it is now. I do want a ton of lights though. I should have had them put 10 on each side.

@@alltruckedup2024 they can do a single 20k air brake axle for less. That would also save some on tolls, MPG and maintenance costs. Obviously you’d have to upgrade the truck first and do a little work to it so it can pull your electric brake trailer, which would not be a bad investment anyway so it could pull either/or, but overall the air brake/air ride setup is way better if you have the truck for it. More reliable, easier to have serviced in a pinch out on the road, way smoother ride, parking brakes to keep the trailer from scooting away when hooking up or rolling away, etc. Also a little bit of a theft deterrent.

@BrandonLeech I've seen some guys with that same setup you are talking about. If I can manage to catch one in the yard, I'll ask their thoughts. I don't do toll roads. I know this is off topic but tolls, to me, are nothing more than illegal road taxes. We pay fuel tax and vehicle registration fees which are supposed to go for road maintenance and repair. However, the interstate highway system is funded by the federal government and this is evidenced by our last omnibus bill that earmarked tens of Billions to the states for road, bridge, and overpass repairs. Sorry for the digression, this topic on tolls just gets me angry. My trailer now has electric over hydraulic brakes. My Big Tex has all electric... which is a maintenance nightmare. I like the hydraulic brakes so far. I know air brakes are the way to go though if I have a truck setup for it. But once I get the semi, I'll have to refit it to haul this current trailer until I get my money back out of it. With depreciation and the lease cost offset, I'm just under 4 years. So I'll be using this for the foreseeable future. Thank you for your perspective and suggestions. I like to get insight on the direction I'm planning to go and make appropriate adjustments.
