Good Evening Sir, that is an interesting engine 🤔👍Nice tips on how to torque the bolts for the head gasket 😇👍Again You Are Truly An Expert Sir 👍😇👌Be Well Cheers 🍻🍻

An interesting setup with the way the valves are on ether side of the piston. I haven’t seen that before. It does seem better.

I've got the same spark tester Artie but for some reason I can never really tell when it's sparking! I could see your spark good I see them good Ole Craftsman tools in the bag👍🏾

You’re getting there Artie. I was told to use oil on the head bolts. You get better torque on the bolts. I do three tightenings. Let’s say it’s 50 ftlb you need. I go to 30, let sit for 10 minutes or so, then to 40, let sit, then to 50. Just an example. Different looking engine than what I’m use too. Sort of a hemi head design. I find a lot of flat head small engines pop out the exhaust. The spark didn’t look right, but seemed to run. Take a break from it Artie. Then go back at it another day. Have a great Thursday Artie. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋🚜

Yes Noel I noticed the spark didn't look good on camera but in person it didn't skip a beat. There is more to the problem than I can figure out yet. Thanks for your input and have a great day 🔧👍

Good idea to replace those bolts when they get hot they stretch replacing them give you a better torque value

I think you are right, from the marks on the block it does look like the head was leaking. It does seem to run a lot better now but I guess the popping suggests valves. Running on load for a while could help a lot

Yes Joseph it's running much better now. Next time we will do a mowing test. I have a feeling we may have to dig deeper in the future. Take care my friend 🔧👍

Artie I think you solved the biggest issue by replacing the head gasket. It looked blown to me in the video and the block was really sooted up in that area too. I do hear a little flutter in the exhaust every now and then though. Could the points in the magneto be causing that? I know sometimes in the old engines a worn valve guide can cause the exhaust valve to not seat properly sometimes and that can cause a flutter in the exhaust every now and then. It's hard to guess what's going on in an engine from 1956!

Hi Artie, so you say this started after it revved up fast, so could it be something to do with the inner workings of the governor 🤔,or the timing off a fraction

I'm not sure if something happened to the governor or something happened in the engine causing it to over rev. It still remains a mystery. We will do a mowing test next time. Thanks for watching Nev 🔧👍
