As of Voicemeeter Potato version 3.0.5.x it now has per-channel input EQ's like on the output section, as well as parameter options on the noisegate and compressor by rightclicking either of them. It is actually hella usefull now. Oh, and streamer view is usefull for creating a full mixdown channel, kinda like how the GO-XLR does it, as long as you set the channel linking mode to none. So now my VAIO 3 channel is my stream-mixdown, with individual sources still present for recording purposes.

VoiceMeeter has introduced full gate and compression controls. There's no reason to not use VoiceMeeter. It's all in one, lays it out pretty simple, you don't have to navigate OBS's tedious layouts and it gives the user easier and quicker access to volume controls.

I used to use VM to separate and control audio sources, chat, mic... But now I use an OBS Plugin called AudioMonitor and in the filters I send that source through virtual cables. Is it the best solution? No. Does it work? Well.. yes. Thanks for your videos! it's the second I watch and i don't know if you already made a video about obs plugins, but i'll be checking out more of your vids. Great info you giving.

I cannot understand how so many people misuse VoiceMeeter just to get more virtual audio channels in OBS. Why? Just Why? If you just start to use VoiceMeeter the way it is intended, you get so much more control over your sound routing! Heck, i have 7 audio input channels + 2 microphone inputs, I use 4 different output mixes and I have hardware controls for VoiceMeeter. I do my microphone mixing inside the Equalizer APO and have readily postprocessed microphone sound (even with switchable sound effects) everywhere I want it to be. OBS, Discord, In-Game Voicechat, whatever.

When it comes to "EQs"... I'll take a 31-band Graph over a Parametric, Para-graphic, Sweep or fixed(bass/mid/treble) Eq any day. But I have been an audio engineer for decades and for new people, learning "what frequency-slider on a graph does what"... can be daunting if your ears aren't experienced. VST's and VSTi's are an amazing technology I've been lucky enough to use in various DAWs for years and I was BLOWN AWAY! My JAW DROPPED... when you showed us that OBS can use VST's???? I was like.. You got some good content. Actually, there is a better way if they have a little money. You could purchase a inexpensive audio interface with loopback. I recommend Audient Evo 4 or 8, Motu M2 or M4. Can then use audacity, Reaper or any DAW to add eq, reverb and record to separate channels for video editing in post. This is how the pros do it. The more software you use, the clunkier it will get. Dedicated machine for audio is great. Or a dedicated recording setup.

I'd like to take my microphone and discord to mix these together into one source to use in OBS. I use ducking for audio and my present setup, before understanding how voicemeter works, is one compressor sidechained from each of these sources separately and with effects on etc. I'd like it to be just one mix for speech and not so taxing on the CPU by going everything double. I don't yet understand voicemeter to set things up.

Correct me if I am wrong Franswah Studio, but I think what he was demonstrating here was that he was NOT using VoiceMeeeter as a "source" for his mic within OBS. Rather, he was using his mic as a DIRECT source WITHIN OBS and using VSTs to compress/EQ his mic to the stream giving him more precise control over the sound of his mic(better than what VoiceMeeeter can do).... then you could just use VoiceMeeeter to mix everything else (game sound, background music etc) INTO OBS as a separate input-sources for the stream... if THAT makes sense? In a nutshell, VoiceMeeeter is NOT sending his mic to OBS, rather, OBS/VSTs are already there...more control over the mic sound! Did I get it right Franswah? (hard to explain)

Question; I have a second computer I want to use my VM on. I was changing the challenge code or what they call regen I think and there is some cool down on that from what I remember. It’s unnecessarily complex but the last time I have messed with it has been over a year ago. I now need it on my laptop, so is it better just to donate again and get an entirely separate voice meter account? Or can I own two with my same email thus being two different challenge and response codes that won’t interfere with eachother?

Nice vid! I need some advice, i run a Seriesx xbox stream through my pc to twitch. Ive setup my potato thanks to your videos. So my desktop has streamlabs obs game audio, going into my headset. There is a fractional delay in my game audio reaching my headset to what i see on my xbox. Even with matching all the frequencys with each audio device. I have a elegato 4k capture card built in so put this into a hardwate input as a workaround, to hear my game volume with 0 latency. However this means i can no longer run my desktop volume into my headset, removing the ability to hear all stream alerts, such as follows , etc. Is there a way to remove the desktop latency, or to somehow split the alerts in obs from the desktop audio? There is 0 videos on how to do this if its possible for a console streamer, please help! Failing this i will have to get a go xlr or something similar.

This program is actually garbage. It takes up way too much system resources inefficiently, the manual is in French and so are the help files, you cant resize the window and its just way too complicated to use even for people who work with real mixers. Not only that, I have an i7 10800F processor and get crackling all the time for doing extremely basic things like playing FL studio into my mic so I can play hand written music in video games through my mic. Totally wish there was just a better English version of this program that had basic functionality "that works" and allowed more customization.
