I received my 5G hub from Three yesterday & am blown away by the speeds. Anything between 500 / 600 mb download & 45 / 55 mb upload. Cost is £21 per month with unlimited data. I have the updated Huawei hub with WiFi 6 supplied free of charge. Virgin Media want £62 per month for m200 with free weekend landline calls. Bye bye VM.

£26 per month with Sky for 80mbps, asked them for something faster which they couldn’t provide. Bought a Huawei CPE Pro 5G second hand and a £16 plan from smarty. Now reaching speeds of around 700/800mbps download at busier times and highest so far has been 1119, we have everything in our house connected to it including powerlines, multiple ap’s, IoT devices. Works spot on every time, sky has been cancelled👀

It’s cheaper to get the router separately - - Smarty (uses Three network) is currently £16 pm for unlimited 5G data, calls and texts (tethering ok, no caps or slow down). A second hand 5G mobile router can be bought for £120 or less - I got one for £46 (Galaxy SCR01 from Japan - it can also be set to English language). Or use a 5G Android phone and buy a good Asus Router and tether the phone to the router’s usb. If have an iPhone use that as hotspot and use wireless router as repeater. Smarty is the best budget option at the moment, and no long contracts, just rolling monthly plan. But it all depends on where you are and quality of signal. In London the 5G is faster than the wired broadband. If you want really fast, get a second line for an extra £10pm and use link aggregation, but not many need that, though useful if e.g. sending large video files to clients.

@@AliAhmed-ul6nr I’d look to using a suitable router with DD-WRT. IMO Asus tend to be good and some models support WAN aggregation on stock firmware.

I’ve just replaced my Virgin Media plan (£50/month for 250mb) with a 3 5G plan (£20/month) - I ran both in parallel for a while as I was skeptical it seemed too good to be true, I consistently get 500 to 800mb/s in speedtests with a ping below 50ms. We stream lots of 4k content have games consoles, I work from home and all seems good so far. We live quite close to a mast (probably 800m or so) and I found the best place for the router was in the loft, I am amazed at the strength of the wifi it gives full coverage in the house even in the loft and the high location means it has better line of sight to the mast. I did end up running a network cable from the loft down to the room with my games console in to make sure I had the lowest latency - but other than that the wifi works great for everything else (tvs, firesticks, laptops, tablets etc) - so far I’m very impressed, feels like a bit of a secret maybe as more people discover this and the network becomes more congested it will get worse, but time will tell.

I recently moved to a ground floor apartment closer to my town center. I didnt get 5g in the suburbs where I used to live and was lucky to get around 40Mbps on LTE. At my new address I get 5G with Three 310Mbps peak download. On EE I only get 4G+ but i get 210Mbps on EE on 4G+. I'm not able to get virginmedia and am only able to get FTTC/VDSL2 that makes out at 80Mbps. What I do is have the 5g hubs in bridge mode and use a TP-Link load balancing router that can combine the bandwidth of upto 4 wan connections.

Thanks 👍🏻 I’m just down from you in Renfrew. I currently get 46-53 Mbps Download with Sky, which is the highest they can offer me. I don’t have Fibre in my area, so I’m quite interested in this option, although the Three website doesn’t actually state estimated or minimum speeds, even when I type in my postcode. I guess I might need to order it and use the initial trial period to see if it’s an improvement.

Be careful with 5G broadband. I had speeds of up to 800/70 and 500/70 during peak times. Unlimited broadband via 3. The issue I had is that when Downloading things it would frequently go to 0mb and fail. Then a few weeks into the contract, the speeds kept dropping to 3mb and would not go back up. Engineer said it was something to do with jumping between servers and connecting to the wrong type of 5g server they had. Long story short I had to cancel. Also it definitely wasn't 3 throttling the speeds. It happened when downloading files of any size, ever 30mb files it would happen.
