I will be implementing this in my 4th grade classroom this year! I can't wait! Thanks for all the tips and showing us how it works in your classroom!

The red card flip to show a student is absent is brilliant. Will actually probably be moving away from having a class photographer since so many students just consistently forgot but I really like the idea of a Tweet Captain or something like that. I'm seeing now that you do actually charge a fine for photographers not posting so that for sure seems like a good idea. Also, as simple as it is, I never posted our classroom economy schedule (bonus money days, auction days, etc) and I just verbally told students, so I was asked all year, 'when is our auction, when is bonus money day??' Plan on posting it next year and just telling them to check the website. Also, next year I plan on cranking the job infraction fine way up...realized kids were often forgetting to do their job but still getting paid a good salary and a few job infraction fines wasn't having the sting I was hoping it would, so I'm thinking like $600 next year or something (after a warning or two or something). You have solved a great problem of mine which is the organization of the offense log. Never thought to just have a fresh sheet for every week! Thanks so much for sharing Aaron!

Can't wait for the 5th graders to learn about futures contracts and for the next video to be called "Classroom quantitative easing"

What happens if a student can’t afford their rent or a fine?
@Riedlteach

Then they learn about debt and how to pay off their debts! Lol. Depending on the student, I have them do extra chores like cleaning the floor or doing an extra book review or raking leaves outside to earn back money they had to use to pay fines. Good life lessons!

Do you pay the students for the items they bring for the class auction?
@Riedlteach

I didn't, but that might be a good inventive for them to bring stuff in!

I am wondering if there is another way to manage "violations" other than the students who have the role of "fine officer" calling out their peers. Has that gone over relatively well?
@Riedlteach

They don't "call them out" aloud. They just fill out a form when there are violations (i.e. forgetting to feed the fish) and the students understand what they did wrong. They rarely argue, but when they do, then I help mediate and we have good conversations.

Also, I am upfront with the fine officer at the beginning of the year that their peers might be unhappy with them sometimes, so this job should be given to a student who can take the heat. 😊

I love this idea, do you think IT would work with 6th grade? Ty!!
@Riedlteach
3 жыл бұрын
I think it would work well with any self-contained class. I'm teaching 6th grade math/science now, but i haven't figured out how to adjust it to multiple classes. I know there are other teachers on KZitem who have done it with multiple classes at the same time.

I love this idea and plan to incorporate it in my 5th grade classroom. I clicked on the links and only one did not work. It was the Logo & Banker/Client List. Do you happen to still have the template for it?
