Each of us, like a seed, has the potential to transform and bring abundant harvests, but this requires a certain kind of "withering away" - that is, the readiness to renounce selfishness, comfort, and sometimes even our own plans or ambitions for something greater.
You will hear the story of Mari Stromberger - the Angel from Auschwitz and the story of Damian's father who went to the Island of the Damned - the island of Molokai.
The story of an American army major who experienced protection from "life's adversities" will also make us think about trusting God. The rain, which made his military mission difficult or even impossible, turned out to be a blessing because it washed away the sand and discovered a minefield that threatened the moving soldiers.
This trust is necessary to be able to die like a grain of wheat and thus bring good, to say "God, work in my life."
