Very nice Elfster, I have an older 308 RPR that needs a new Barrel. Echo

A barrel break in procedure is extremely important and I was surprised you did not do one on this barrel at the range. The group is opening up due to inconsistent copper build up which will affect how the grooves and lands break in therefore affecting the future accuracy of the barrel. The first group shows how accurate the barrel was from the factory, hopefully you can get some one hole groups out of it in the future. Thanks for the video.

You work for Krieger barrels?

This is definitely a hot topic in regards to barrel break in. I just don't do it. It will be fine IMO. I shot these straight with zero time between groups. And I'm positive I pulled a couple shots.

With out doing load development, it's hard to say. It very well could be more accurate once I get thru load development and tuning the Eric tuner brake

It looks like I'm not the only one with a new barrel. I spun on a new McGowan on my Howa 1500 short action back in October. Best I have done with it is a .6's for ten rounds at 200 with Nosler 155's and Power pro Varmint. Glad to see you messing with loads again. See you on the hide.

Great result with the new tube dude! However your better off measuring the growth after primers removed, catered or not they'll probably give you inaccurate data for your shoulder bump requirement...look forward to seeing more from this shooter!!

100% on popping out primers for a true measurement. Was just doing it at the range to get an idea on the set headspace of the newly installed barrel

I finally got the bug bad enough with my reloading I wanted to prove to myself I could make sub-min /long range ammo consistently. So I traded the old Mossberg LR hunter for a hmr in 308. The nosler 150 ballistic tip and 178g eldx factory loads were a HUGE disappointment. Like 1.5" for Nosler and 4" with the heavy hornady loads!!! Wtf!!?!!?! But..... Nothin better then you get our your old loads out, thinking that these most likely will be a waste of components. Then you pull your 47g varget/155eld load from your bag and shoot a .35'' group. It's a good when you realize the 50 rounds you had loaded for your old gun, now work perfect in your new Bergara.

You gotta be happy with those results Elfster 😀. Did you let the barrel cool down between groups ?

Nope, just gave her hell. No time between groups

@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading Copy that Elfster. I think that the groups would have been smaller if you let the left barrel cool down between groups . Any barrel that shoots that tight while it’s hot is a keeper .
