I found this video to be helpful in my AR trio gun. I was thinking of 450 bushmaster, the 6.5 grendal and 17hmr as three do all cartridges. Living in Texas we don't have Moose or Elk but large hogs are always on the loose, white tail and pesky critters and rodents. I figured for me this would be a good 1 gun setup

I'm working on a load for my Grendel with a 100 gr Ballistic Tip and getting up to 2600 fps. I may be settling on 28.0 gr of Benchmark pushing 2550 fps and shooting very nice groups from my 18" X-Caliber stainless barrel with a 1/8 twist!

Over the past year I have learned about the 8.5x55 Blaser. As someone who owns a 6.5x55 swede, I am interested in this caliber, however I cannot for the life of me find any information about it. I am not European so that is probably why. I have found KZitem videos, but they are all in European languages. It would be great if you could dig something up. Thanks...

I like the grendel. The next round might have a shorter neck on expansion. I’m loading the 100gr ttsx. I’m hoping the added velocity helps. I’m not sure if there are any factory offerings with that projectile. Thx for the video.

Glad you enjoyed it! I think the 115gr TAC-TX is the only Barnes bullet you can get in a factory load. What sort of velocity are you getting with the 100gr TTSX?

@@Thebiggamehuntingblog I haven’t put it through the chronograph yet. If I do and I remember it I’ll put it on here. It’s a 20” upper with 30gr of tac. That’s max on Hodgdon website with no pressure signs but I’m guessing you would be way over pressure before it shows on the brass with a 52k cartridge. Happy hunting and good luck.

My boy shot a doe at 35 yards with a 7mm/08 & a handloaded 120 BT. I've never seen a blood trail like it.

My daughter took a doe with same load through a 24inch barrel cz 527 and it performed flawlessly, probably the best blood trail for the thirty yards the deer travelled I've seen from a rifle.

Love the grendel. I shoot the 95gr Vmax with h335 at 2800 fps and 120 gr SMK at @2500 fps with AR Comp. Using a 20 inch barrel. I am think of getting a 24” for my ar15.

My favorite cartridge but man that’s a bit slow. I shoot a 18inch ar in 6.5 Grendel. I hand load I get 100g hammers going 2675, 123 sst 2450 and 129 sst at 2375. I would try the 100g hammer bullets.

Yes, definitely slower than I like. For reference, I got 2,470 for the 115gr TAC-TX and 2,429 for the 123gr SST.

If you have a 6.5 creed, try that 100 grain hammer (I use Barnes, but same difference) in it. Mine come out a 3150 from a 22" barrel, and they make some of the nastiest wounds I've seen from mono bullets. I never would really hunt with the creed till I found this combo.

I’m only commenting because this where I started. A disappointing episode with the Grendel on a deer with a neck shot with a 24” barrel at 150 yards. It led me to the 300 Hamr. At 200 yards the Hamr hits harder and has always provided a complete pass through. About the same velocity out of a 16” barrel with more frontal area. It’s a well developed cartridge for its effect range. I don’t miss my Grendel at all.

Tell me more about the performance you're getting out of a 300 HAMR. I've heard a lot about the cartridge, but I've never shot one myself.
