So I love camp sandals for several reasons: 1) nice to have something different and comfortable to wear around camp 2) nice to have a sandal to protect your feet as you cross a stream/river 3) nice to have a sandal to wear as you walk into a stream or lake to clean up your dirty body after a long sweaty/dirty hike I wear the Birkenstock Barbados Eva Sandals - 9.2oz for a size 13. Comfortable, waterproof, relatively light weight, and can wear wool socks with them. For some people the weight is the single most important aspect of gear. I try to find a balance between light weight and multi functional… These sandals rock!

The cheap Chinese sandals are close to 1lb. Around 13-15oz. The exped and others like it will get wet very quickly if you have wide feet. You will crush the sides and then the fabric top will become the bottom of your shoe lol. Ask me how I know.

Love my 'Crocs Swiftwater Mesh Wave' - comfy, good for water, light. Only minus is they are a little bulky, but I can live with it.

I made some huarache running sandals. Mine are DIY, but are similar to the Xero Genesis. These are my current camp shoes and I enjoy wearing them around camp. Unfortunately the material I made the soles out of gets slippery for my feet when wet. (not slippery to the ground). I may upgrade to the Xero Veracruz or Z-Trail with hopes that they will also be a daily sandal like your Xeros. The great thing about the huarache running sandals is that they take up almost no room and they fit into the camp chair storage bag with the chair. Other shoes I've used for camp shoes are a pair of Five Finger shoes. I love hiking in my Five Fingers and I'll often bring an extra pair to wear at camp. I have also thought about picking up a pair of aqua socks since they would be lightweight and would be good for water crossings or a quick swim or dip in a stream.

I am thinking about going to the more minimalistic sandal from Xero or deliberate life. Aqua socks is a cool idea! 🤙🏕

Good stuff. I carry a camp shoe about 10% of the time but that’s only because I haven’t found the right shoe … yet. Also, Crow just pops up everywhere.

I have a few options as well, I bring zero shoes/sandals or nothing at all in the warm months. Different temp ranges warrant different footwear choices. I should get grandpa a pair of those slippers lmbo!!! Happy trails 👣 Nice video Mark

They may be the most versatile for my needs. I may try out a pair of their even more minimalistic sandals. Or deliberate life designs too. 🤙🏕

There are two choices--barefoot--and insulated booties. Why would you carry camp shoes that are not insulated?

I'm curious if anyone has used the birkenstock plastic/rubber sandals for camp shoes? They are super lightweight, you can wear with or without socks since they don't have the thing between your toes, the only con I can think of is not very grippy on bottom

Real Crocs still rule. Been at this for 40yrs and nothing is as good. Warm, cool, float, wipe dry, weigh 6ish oz, slide on, cushioned, grippy and your feet don’t slip in wet Crocs.

I have not been on the crocs bandwagon, but am highly considering adopting them as a camp shoe for all the reasons you listed. I have taken them on occasion and they perform very well. 🤙🍻

Hiker most likely to be seen in someone else's video = Crow ! I'm not always keen on sandals due to dirt, dust and possibly getting 'stuck' - Had some Tevas for a while. My daughter sometimes just hikes in Chacos...I just can't do it.
